Petition to get rid of front plates in Washington State!

I am so glad someone took the initiative (pardon the pun) to try to eliminate the front license plate requirement in Washington!

I have to go to court tomorrow to contest having my front plate in my window, as the officer deemed it "not properly attached", although it is between 1 and 4 feet high, unobstructed, and there is nothing stated in the code other than "front of vehicle" with regard to placement. It's just stupid.

Good luck, it's the law here but they don't really enforce it, unless they want to screw with you. Most of the vehicles I've had for the last 20 years never had one, and only got called on it once.

It is the law here in Illinois...but largely ignored. I think the fine is $35, an amount that I would pay several times as long as they keep it at that amount. I just sent a copy of the petition to my State Representative and State Senator.

I don't know of a state where it isn't required by law, but I'd sure like to be in a state that doesn't!

I believe my fine was $117.00, and that's all I was stopped and ticketed for!

I know that PA used to be a back state only plate, but they may very well have changed that by now.

$117 for a plate violation is ridiculous. Nothing more than a revenue generator.

They're not required because the hurricanes just rip them off anyway!

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that's probably not what he/she stopped you for. More than likely he/she can tell your truck isn't stock and more than likely he/she didn't like the fact that you could outrun the cop cruiser and his/her ego was badly bruised by that fact.

If I were to guess why you were pulled over it's because you drive a supercharged srt-10 that probably sounds something like a nascar with a blower ....

Anyway... yeah I've gotten dinged here too, but it's almost always due to me doing something else I shouldn't have been doin....

I've been pulled over in our Z06 for the same damned thing.

On the plus side, I went to court today and successfully argued my case. Judge tossed it out!:rock:
