Phoenix (PIR) SRT Track Experience Pics

Today Carlos (BurntRubber), and myself went to the SRT Track Experience at PIR (Phoenix International Raceway).

The event was pretty cool... I am not going to complain for it being free... its not one that I would have paid for.

These pics are from the AutoCross Module.. I forgot my camera in the truck for the drag race, and Vehicle Control modules... (oops..)

There was some video taken from the Viper modules (Vehicle Control), once they get emailed to me I will post links to those as well.

They also will be making a DVD of the Performance Module which was run on the full size oval and road course.. I will rip it and provide a link to that...

The Viper was fun... of course...but I am a really tall guy and stepping into it was was interesting.. once in I was good. But those cars run realllly hot.... but it was fun to drive.

The funnest and least likely in my mind of them was the SRT8 Jeep Grand Cherokee those things had some balls... and handled amazingly well.

The next in line was the Charger SRT8, Magnum SRT8, and Crossfire SRT6.

I did not like the 300C SRT8 at all.

The Crossfire SRT6 was very agile, and talked to you on the autocross, as in the tires and stuck quite well and would let you know by howling as you approached them letting go...for the track being overly hot and greasy... but I did not fit very well in that car.

They gave us a hot lap in the Viper.. I think we did about a buck 20.. maybe buck 30... they tried to white knuckle me... but being what I do in the sand car.. i just calmly sat there..except for the slight grin on my face. :D They would not go any faster because of insurance and legal reasons...
 
Did you get to drive on the big track? Went last year to atlanta and man it was awesome.almost made 140 in the back stretch.about a 100 in the turns.
I think I was holding my breath most of the way around!! That JEEP is a bad ass ride.I would own for sure.

Yes, they let us drive on the oval, about 8/10th of it, then back into the road course, lots of space to play.

They would not let us go much over 100...apparently some insurnace/legal issues... and the groups I was in (except for one), were slow drivers so the leader had to drive to their level... oh well.. it was fun however getting to beat up on factory owned SRTs... :D
 
the Track Exper. was a good time. The Jeep's are awesome, definetly a great daily driver! After spending some time in a Viper, at this event and driving a freinds I would say not a daily driver! Makes me reconsider buying a Viper and maybe getting a RC towards year end. Those VIpers get hot, like ridiculously hot. But man are they fun. Hmmm... an 04 RC w/ FI and other goodies or 96-99 viper???? In the end the track experience was fun cuz you get to hammer on cars that are not yours...and that can't be beat!!!:rock:
 
500 bones unless it was included with your truck.Look on the window sticker.
It was 300.00 for a long time.Mine was included.Cost me 60 for the wife.She loved riding in the pace car.Dude had a magnum srt-8 that was bad ass.May do it again.500 is alot when you figure I won't get away with signing the wife up as a spectator!!
 
Bought my truck used and I don't have a window sticker :( $500 is not too bad and if I took my wife we would probably end up with another Mopar car! Hmmm...
 
i went on saturday and had a great time. there were 4 courses
1. autocross, we drove the srt6 crossfire around a set of cones.
2. full throttle exp, like a drag strip with the tree. crossfire, grand cherokee, magnum, charger and 300c.
3. advanced car controle, drifting.....kinda, it was with out the traction control on a charger and a viper.
4. hot laps, around PIR and the infield. crossfire, magnum, charger and 300c.

when we got done with 2 of the coruses i got a chance to look at the front tires on the grand cherokees.....may i say TRASHED big time and they still had 2 more courses left.

had a great time, loved the grand chrokee srt8. on the hot laps i was paired with slower people and capped 90 mhp once. still had a great time. i did win the full throttle challange (drag strip). i even won against the instructor.

i won a nascar experinace ticket from petty racing.
 
I was out there on Sunday, had a good time. The Jeep's are sweet, the Crossfires were fun to toss around the track to. I ended up getting second in the autocross and missing out on the prize that dragon won. If I knew what the prize was I probably would have tried harder. But a fun day altogether.
 
Nice pics looks like a blast... I like that SRT-8 Jeep myself, might be my next vehicle!!

I've been super busy lately.

I got 1 more year and I'm out of there.

Of course.

Hope Hawaii is still bitchin.
