Pic's of my Build (In-Frame)

You got 10 lbs on a stock pulley? Most of us are runing 7# on the 5.6# pulley.

I'm 7# with a comp coupe cam and Headers with 1 set of cats.

Devil did you run a bore gauge or telescoping gauges and mic the cylinders before you ran the dingleberry hone?

When I'm ready I'm going to bust the heads off mine and if there is no lip or ridge on the cylinder then I'm going to do the same thing.

Could you do me a favor and check for blow by? Maybe at night while the engine is warm and running you could point a flash light at your breather filter and check for smoke..... Mine smokes like a freakin cheminey..........

I would have just sent it to Norm at Westech...:p :D

Then I would have not had to get any grease under my finger nails.

You will be closely reviewed at the GTG in June!

Did not catch this earlier sorry didnt blow you off. Yes I did run bore gauge down but no I didnt mic it just ran the dingleberry up and down 10 times got perfect crosshatch. and almost 3k miles no smoke or blow by, and no kabbom at the track. next is 10lb pulley (dyno first for the tune) and will start with a 75 shot and work up to 150 shot. Also moving to nostalgia slicks like Nowwhat and FatJack, before I go with a locker rear. No lip or ridge on the cylinder;)

still have the 4.10 the lowest I would go is 4.30 I do a lot of highway driving. why you got a rearend you want to get rid of?
 
demonpup, did you use billet main's on the crank when you reassembled? or did you not touch the crank?

you cant do billet mains on an in frame, the block has to be line bored for the mains
 
From what folks say you don't need the billet mains untill you shot for 1000+ hp.

Me thinks.

Ya, when I had mine built, they said they had Vipers rolling around with 900+hp on stock mains without any issues:)
 
No Mr.Anderson, I didnt like the other two said and from everyone I talked to the bottom is good to about 1000hp, which I am in no way shooting for. One thing nobody on here mentions,strip or street, Dom is building a strip truck along with ram from hell, I want a street truck with the capabilities of running at the track, which something people need to think about when planning there build, because after last weekend I saw the light on how different the builds are between a street and strip vehicle. But either way I lika go fast and now I don't have to worry about the pistons breaking apart:marchmellow: :burnout:

AND I would like to thank all the vendors on here for just the time and research into finding the right parts and what not for these Machines. Thank You. Also Men have machines and boys play with toys:D
 
cool, one less thing to buy, some day in the near future I will do the same thing as what you did. but I may pull the motor out and do it in the garage, I do want to put a ATI harmonic balancer on there along with the forged rods and pistons!

Oh hell if you have the room to pull it do it, It didn't have room and my shop was packed so next best thing, plus I didnt have acces to a hoist. Are you keying the shaft?

dont believe everything you hear either, I know the ones I have seen from 800 hp and up the mains dont look that great, will they live? yes, how long isthe concern tho, why put $8000 in an engine, and not complete the deal?
 
To me it was just a matter of "had a chance to do it since the crank was out"...I also thought that if the Gen IV Viper had gone to them there must have been an engineering reason.

Well, for my weak 650hp... the stock mains are just fine:D If I had the $$$, I would have done it for the hell of it.
 
I saw your DC dyno runs...I love it when someone does engine runs with respect for the engine. No need to pound the accelerator through the firewall...as many do...DC Rocks!

you'll be fine luvy, but going over 800 or so and no mains, eh, not a big fan, the oem main caps are so puny its not even funny, and under the stress of 800-1000 hp then tend to walk and move around a bit, its all personal situations, but for the little xtra they are, compared to the total build, its minor insurance
