Pilot makes a mistake!

I thought sure the tanks would blow....... Lucky fella..

As an old Avionics guy, this one is simple.

The pilot on roll will place the landing gear lever in the up position. This way as soon as the weight comes off the wheels, the gear retracts. Very cool, because then the pilot can scoot down the runway just off the ground.

Problem, if the aircraft bounces and the aircraft gets that weight off signal , 3000 psi pulls the gear up and the aircraft settles to the ground because there's not enough lift (seen it happen).

The reason why there was no explosion is beacuse the fuel cells are above the engines and i didn't see any external fuel bags

So there you have it, Rookie show off 101

I doubt that he would have the opportunity!

Well, see that's why there was no ejection.....

The pilot shot himself to avoid a firing squad

Very good description of what happened.:congrats:

Seen it happen to a S-3 in Tinker AFB. the aircraft was doing a cross country, and as they took off, they were on the runway with a slight bump in the middle of the runway when it happened. it's not always a rookie either, that was the skipper on that bird.
