Has anyone else had this before,i have had this for over 18 months now, been to the doc,had inserts, lost weight, and yet this f-ing problem wont go away, now the doc is talking about surgery or a cast, theres no way i can do either of those.

Please let me know of anyother ideas u guys might know about concerning this.

Thanks

Really persistent problem in lots of people...

My Dad got to the point where he moved around the house on his hands and knees because of the pain...ultimately had a cast put on for about two months to allow the inflammation to subside, and then several months of physical therapy and steroids (prednezone) before it was really healed.

What the Prof. said....it's going to take a little while and you may have to have that cast.......:nurse:
I had a heel that took over 2/yrs  It's hard trying to keep-up your daily activity schedule and let your foot heal at the sametime. Mine had to get real painfull before I did what they told me........

strech stretch strech- ive got as well- stretch out your calf muscles ,cause it all ties together do it for about 10-15 minutes in the morning - it really helps , and the removable cast thing helps at well at night - it stretches that tendon while your are sleeping- its a pain in the ass- but it all helps!

Ok Roy, What is this condition (Plantar Fasciitis ):dontknow: :dontknow:

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/plantar-fasciitis/DS00508

In short it is an inflammation of a tendon in your foot. Because we are constantly using our feet, the condition becomes cyclic...it can become chronic and extremely painful and debilitating...even if you grin and bear it...you will likely cause other problems due to a changed walking form, or gait. Sometimes the hips or knees are compromised due to the compensation your body makes for the pain...stretching is a great recommendation...

But in any case it is not something to ignore.

in my case,as soon as i sit down for over 10 minutes my foot swells up,so when i goto stand up i cant put much weight on it for the first few minutes ,getting up in the mornings are the worst

Are you on an anti-inflammatory? You at least should be taking ibuprofen to control the inflammation/swelling. I'm not a physician but I bet most any of them would say immediately go to 200 to 400 mg of ibuprofen three or four times a day. Surly, before you go to bed...even a couple of hours before you get up...don't take ibuprofen with aspirin...they nullify one another.

I wish I had your problem in my penis.

Cortisone is a miracle drug...but you are correct in that three injections is about the limit. Being a 40 year racquetball player...every joint I have has had problems...my right elbow got to the point that I could not shake hands with out tears in my eyes...got three shots and the orthopedic surgeon I used said on the fourth injection I was at risk of fitting a forehand shot and seeing my forearm hit the front wall at about the same time as the racquetball!!!

Solved that problem with a 16 ounce of beans...drop it catch it, drop it catch it...for hours every day...never had a elbow problem since...

Yuck, we ageed on sumpin :D :D :p

BTW, the doc said one more shot and i might find my head on the floor when I woke up in the morning :D

I roll a tennis ball under my feet (up and down the arch)before bed and right before i stand up in the morning while sitting on the edge of my bed...It seems to help a lot by stretching out the arches. I also have custom inserts that my doc made up. Also a chiropractic visit may be needed. I found a lower back injury that was causing me to alter my stride, which aggravated the condition. When all else fails, hire a nice young lady to massage your big ol clubs...:D  ;)

Lotsa good input from you guys...Here's mine:

The issue of plantar fasciitis is one that is common to many, many adults over the age of 30 and the numbers go up exponentially as aging progresses....

Being a former athlete and one who has spent a lifetime on his feet, I too have a bit of experience with this problem... So, whether you give a shit about what I think or not, I'm here to help...

The disease itself is nothing more than inflammation of the plantar fascia in or near the heel of your foot..... Every time you've 'planted' your foot on that spot (millions of times) has kinda streesed it out (a little at a time) until the area eventually cries "uncle" and becomes inflamed....

I have had this problem before. But now it rarely gives me any trouble because I DO MY THERAPY on a regular basis.... If you are one of those that only does his therapy (in this case calf stretches) when he's in pain, this malady will return (again and again) and bite you.

The therapy (calf stretching) is easy. Just put the arch of your foot on a step, a curb or even on a flat floor and lean forward until you feel the calf muscles start to pull... Gradually extend forward more and more until you can stretch the calf no further... Then gently relax and repeat several times .... (3 sets of 10 each day is great).....Having the step or curb under your arch simply adds to the degree of stretching to the plantar fascia and helps further relieve the inflammation.... Your objective is to create greater flexibility in that plantar fascia until it stops becoming inflamed all the time....

Cortisone shots: OK, so having more than 3 cortisone shots may be pushing the envelope, I agree. But I've had cortisone injections in a number of inflamed joints of my body that have NEVER bothered me again.... So why discount a great therapy because you may be limited to 3 or 4 injections? You may not need another one for 10 years...?

Orthotics (and I believe that any decent Dr Scholl's orthotic is fine...I've used the $100 ones and they were no frickin' different than the rest...I don't care what the bloody orthopedist says).... A decent orthotic from the drug store is fine, but you must use it every day in every shoe you wear..... If you must buy another one to trim down and fit into that skinny shoe, then do so.... But wear yer damned orthotic all the time ... That's important...

Also, try not to wear shoes that have shitty support...... and it's also not a very good idea to go barefoot all the time either..... I find that the more often I go barefoot, especially walking around on concrete or ceramic tile, the more my fasciitis flares up..... Wear yer fricking shoes with orthotics, dammit.

So go and get the cortisone shots... As Roy said, cortisone is a miracle drug... You'll feel better almost immediately... At least by the next morning.... Purchase and use your orthtics and do yer fkn (calf stretch) therapy every day....

If you follow this regimen religiously, suffering from plantar fasciitis will be a thing of the past.....

Now GTF out'a here and start yer damn therapy like I told ya....

Dr Django

Take the cortisone. It works. The NY Yankees buy it in 50 gal drums.

Steve
True, however they ( the football leagues) have a Huge Retiement /Disability Plan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The cortisone works well,( just be carfull about repetative treatments)
My shots lasted about 1 month, others may requier only one treatment to get Long term relief.

Try it , you might get the relief you are looking for.:D

Actually I would just prefer repetative treaments with Goose or JD:D :D
And then refer to the 12 steps!:D :D
