Tried a search for tar then I tried tar remover and found nothing. After washing the truck (in preparation for pics of it with my M&H tires tuesday) I found a bunch of tar spatter on one side, caused by my road trip to a car show in eastern colorado. I was planning on Zaino-ing it again anyway, but now I gotta remove the tar first.
 
I use Goo Gone, or Turtle Wax Bug and Tar remover. WD-40 will also work on tar and gum.


But, after using any of these, I always re-apply wax! I see you are going to anyway, which is really good!!
 
Thanks guys!! I'll try some WD-40 then rewash the areas affected. Now its off to Zaino's site for supplies :)

EDIT: just found several Zaino used clay bars (still look clean enough for what I need) so I'll be using them with some soapy water in a spray bottle instead of the WD-40.

Turtle wax bug & tar & the new MR clean magic erasers work pretty good also. And if all else fails carb & choke but use carefully & wash & wax after use.

Limonene....is what my wife's company uses to make 3M Adhesive Remover.:p :p :rock: :rock:

I'm having Christine get a five gallon container for me...

Oil and tar are complex chemical structures, most organic materials that don't evaporate too quickly will work, Marc's comment about baby oil is an example...organic, won't evaporate, great for removing tar from skin with out damaging skin. Silverback has the best solution, Christine developed the chemistry years ago.

By the way you can buy Limonene from my wife's company (Petroferm) in 5 gallon cans...but you will not like the price, or you can stop by my house and pick up a little and have a Corona while we compare trucks.
