Hey guys,

I'm looking at potentially purchasing a RC Srt 10. What are some things I should look for and ask about when looking at these trucks.

I currently drive a SC'd 2004 5.7 Ram so I come from a Dodge already. Just curious about what to look for since I don't know as much about the Srt 10s as I do the hemi.

The SRT10's are great trucks. You'll have to plan on replacing oil cooler lines (simple and cheap). Other than that, they seem to be aging really, really well. One of the forum members just Procharged a new Hemi. He said his RC 10' is still quicker.

this isn't actually a bad thing. I bought mine knowing this, but the dealer didn't, so it was an excellent bargaining chip.
Went something like "we do a 100 point inspection and fix any issues so you can rest assured you're getting a quality vehicle", to which I replied "well, then explain why its leaking oil?" Also the bolts on the shift lever were loose so it rattled like crazy In neutral.

All said and done I got them to knock it down from $25,500 sticker to $24,000 out the door.

If it's from the north look under it really good for rust. I just passed on a 16K mile truck in Ohio that looked great till I climbed under it!!!!!

I would be willing to let mine go, original owner, very clean, stored indoors, no leaks, approx 15K miles, unmolested by mods, clear title. 3M clear tape on door sills from day one so there are NO boot scratches or wear in the paint. Only window tint and a drop in K&N. PM me if interested.

PM sent.

Thanks for the information guys.

Is there any year that's better than the rest? I know with the 3rd Gen hemi's that 05 seems to be the best year to tune and 03 are supposed to be the "basted child" so to speak.

Years ago I was always told to avoid the first year production run as too many problems at first and wait until the next year so they can fix whatever. But as to our short three year production..I haven't heard one year is worse or better than the others. I have a '05 and bought it same day after I took it out for a test drive..so good luck on your search.

I can't really speak for the 04-05's but I can tell you that the 06's are awesome. To me they have the best interior of the bunch. Only down side is that since they are a one year production truck in the sense that it is different than the rest, it's a pain to find some OEM parts. Otherwise, it's a looker.

(i heard) 04's had cam lobe issues, 05's are great, 06's look like bug eyed insects

Proud 05 owner………………. oh yeah, make sure you get a yellow one, their faster…………...:burnout:

When you find one change your sn. We had a previous memeber with a sn pretty close to yours and he was full of shit all the time. Dont follow in his foot steps.

I found an 04 with 36k miles on it that I'm having a friend check out for me tomorrow (I'm from NJ but currently in Missouri for work). The truck is in NY.

He's a car guy and knows things to look for in general and I've also told him to check the underside extensively for rust. Is there anything else I can tell him to look at when he goes to see the truck and test drive it for me tomorrow?

As mention before..leaky oil and power steering lines seem to up there..good luck and join the crowd.
