My truck is tough to turn the tires in say a parking space from an idle. Is it just because the tires are tall and wide or do i need the power steering pump checked. I know this long boat is not made for a Wal-mart spot but it's almost like at an idle i have manual steering.

that's normal. if you're trying to turn the wheel quickly at an idle, you're going to bump into some resistance from the PS pump. it needs just a few more prm to work properly. I'm guessing that from the factory, they underdrive the accessories in order to save them from the 6000 rpm redline and racing conditions we subject them to.

i thought so but didn't want there to be something wrong and ignore it. Thanks, a lot!

I had this problem and the dealership replaced my power steering pump and I haven't had the problem since. I don't think the problem is normal. What's the sense in having power steering if you can't use it to park your truck? Run it by your dealer. The Viper tech at my dealership noticed this and took it upon himself to order the new pump. I didn't even have to mention it.

i had my power steering pump replaced after 5k in my 06 rc,if its making a noise when u turn then its starting to go out, also check the power steering fluid level my 05 quad cab leaked all the fluid out but i put more in with sealant and its been fine ever since
