Prayers to the Phoenix guys and families

The news is making it look worst than it really is. Some people have built in dry river beds & when it rains they get washed away. Happens every year when the monsoon season arrives. Kind of like the people that live along the Mississippi River. Although if it does rain 40 days & 40 nights I will heading back to Texas, so save me a dry spot. Thanks for your concern.

Good to hear. Talked to Rick and he pretty much said the same. It did look horrible on the news.

Some people did get wiped out, but that's what happens when you build at the base of a mountain. Most damage was up north in higher elevations where water had to flow down. Same story down by South mtn. Nature decides where it wants rainwater to go, not us.

I remember seeing the trashed "beaches" after that oil spill in the gulf. I asked one of my friends who lives down there about it and he said, "there is only one beach that has any oil on it, and they just keep showing it over and over and over. Even the bird everyone sees is the same bird"

Family friend called me afterwards (previous deluge of rain at SMtn) to help with clean up. City mistakenly allowed 1/2 doz homes to be built back in early 80's i.e. in a flood zone. Anyways, all the neighbors have been fighting the city to allow them to divert the water but to no avail. All have been repeatedly flooded over the years and once again everyone was again flooded with this last storm. Very frustrating as two days with heavy equipment could easily divert water coming down the mtn. No one can get flood insurance or sell their homes...talk about being stuck. Over the years a few have simply walked away...

Life in the desert is hot/sunny day after day with a day or two of pure havoc. lol
