OK, I've ripped through 2 1800psi pressure washers <which I use to wash my ATV's and vehicles> I've decided that they're basically cheap pieces of crap...

With that I want to buy a gas pressure washer, my concern is most of the heavy duty ones are NOT recommended for vehicles <obviously they push ~4000psi> There are different connectors that make it less powerful but I don't know much about them..

Can anyone offer advice on gas powered pressure washers?? On another noteI picked up a leaf blower to dry off my truck and it works ok... I also Zaino'd the hood... wow... what a difference...

honda makes a nice one, they dont make cheap stuff, ive got one from lowe's that was about 4 or 500 that i wash the beck off with every year and the eaves of the house, its got 3 or 4 different nozzles

Yes, Honda makes great ones. I'm using one right now on my deck with the YELLOW nozzle. It comes with 5 different nozzles so you don't put out too much power (ex. RED will strip the paint off of your truck, green will just give it a nice shine). I would highly recommend this unit to anyone. It's been working great for about 4 years and is from Home Depot. BTW.. you can find 10% off coupons on Ebay all day long for Home Depot or Lowes for a buck or two!

I have a Craftsman 2000PSI that has a Honda engine. I replace the variable tip with quick change fixed tips (you can buy those at almost any hardware). The 2000PSI is only for a straight narrow stream tip. The fan type tips drop the pressure significantly.

I also use a leaf blower to dry my truck, but i might buy a Master Blaster from metro it has two 4hp motors. If thats doesnt dry the truck faster ill just have to use it on my H-D.

I have the same one. Used it over the weekend.

yeah the yellow nozzle... but isn't it all relative... yellow nozzle on a 2000 means it pushes out 1600 does yellow nozzle on a 4000 mean 3600?? or ??

I'd like to buy something that will push out 4000, but I'd like to know that I can scale it back ENOUGH so I don't <rip the paint off the truck> :D

Thanks 4 the replies ... I've been lookin at the ones at sears so far... I thought most of them had briggs/straton engines... I'll have to check out the honda ones...

The yellow one is what I use most too. I believe it is the 15 degrees fan pattern. 4000PSI is a pretty steep pressure for car washing. Stand back real far when rinsing.

yeah standing back far isn't what I want to accomplish... I'd like to find a model that says... this nozzle reduce pressure by 50% or... has something on the unit that allows you to adjust the pressure.... I haven't found either ....

Unfortunately the heavy duty model I wanted to get was 4000psi :dontknow:

I have a Craftsman and the pressure is adjustable.
Bingo that is what I would go with. We have them at work. Sometimes when you have the pressure cranked up you can blow out an o-ring on the piston sleeves.

Honda and DevilBiss are both good ones... I had a DevilBiss for several years, and then sold it to a neighboor to use to commercially he used it for 3 years every day to remove paint from houses... the thing had thousands of hours on it...

A good place to get them is: Roys Small Engine Warehouse

http://www.smallenginewarehouse.com/ProductList.asp?Category=Pressure+Washer

They sell reconditioned units, which mine was... and as I said it lasted forever.. all I did was keep the oil changed and the sealed cleaned and free from dirt, etc..

The electric ones I have found are pretty much junk... but that is only my opinion.

does that actually work if you dry your truck off with a leaf blower ...

You use the leaf blower to remove the majority of the water, then wipe it down with micro fiber towels.

I have a Craftsman 6.5HP shop vac that is also a leaf blower. The motor lifts off the top and doubles as a 265MPH leaf blower. I use that to get most of the water off and then I have "The Absorber" :D. The Absorber blows away any towel or chamois for drying.

Used to use a 2500psi one at work,I think you'll find that there's an adjustment screw that can turn down the PSI for your use !!:dontknow:

If I remember correctly...6pak is correct on this... I recall mine having the same screw setting.

Its tough here in Arizona to dry the truck without out getting water spots... anything more than 2-3 minutes in the summer time the water has nearly evaporated....
