I am a new owner of a used 04' that is just out of warranty and have a problem starting the truck. When I push the clutch all the way to the floor to start it it won't do anything but if I let the pedal up about a 1/4" off the floor I can find the sweet spot and the starter will engage. Is this a bad switch or is there an adjustment for it? Does anyone know what the switch is usually called and where it is located?

Thanks for any help!

Just sounds like a switch or an adjustment to me.......

One of our mechanical junkies knows this and will chime in soon, I'm sure...

I really doubt that it's a big deal bro...

Welcome to the Club!

Sounds like a simple adjustment, wish I knew more. I am sure you are not the first to experience this, someone will speak up soon!

Ok bro the switch is part of the clutch master cylinder and is non adjustable and non servicable

it is part of the clutch rod.

if you crawl under the dash and look at the clutch rod you should see a couple wires connected with the rod.

the only way to fix it would be replacing the clutch master cylinder, according to the manual.

you could bypass it by just connecting the two wires together to complet the circuit, but then the truck could start in gear when starting and launch forward, which is not recommended:D

Thanks for the help. I hadn't planned an upgrade yet but maybe it is time to go to the viper setup.

may be bro, but look under there at it , I havent physically looked at it yet, just looked it up in the manual, but it says its made in to the clucth master cylinder rod.

like I say you ""could"" just comPlete the circuit;) but it is not recommended:D

but when ya get ready for the clutch set up contact JMB performance or X-metal they both have the kits ya need at coooool prices

I think it would be a really bad idea to jumper those together since I have a 6 year old boy that thinks that red button is pretty cool!

all it would do is allow you to crank it without depressing the clutch, keep it in mind if in case you are out somehwere and it decides to quit working.:)

Welcome to the board! Congrats with new truck! Stinker's correct. It is because of clutch

 You could also wire in toggle or momentary switch hidden somewhere that could serve as a secondary security feature. Just flip the toggle or hold the momentary switch on to get it started.
