Can one of the MODs change my screen name to "HateThisTruck"?:mad:

First off, it burnt through 4 quarts of oil in less than 1000 miles:( It sounds like a valve is f**ked up, but I'm no expert. The driver side has the normal noisey valves... the passanger side is much louder:dontknow:

Nothing I can do about that. Gotta talk to my builder tomorrow, and figure out what we can do. It's under warranty, but his shop is 1500 miles away.

Now for the second problem. OK... I got back to post tonight, and went to the car wash to spray the bugs off. Got her all clean, and went to head home. The truck had absolutly NO power:argh: . I shut her down... check for codes...P0132. P0132 HO2S Circuit High Voltage Bank 1 Sensor 1
EDIT: found a different list... P0132-O2 SENSOR 1/1 CIRCUIT VOLTAGE TOO HIGH - SRT10
Which one is right?

I let the truck sit, disconnected the battery, and let it sit some more. Connected the battery and started it up... no code. At idle, my A/F gauge reads NOTHING (--). If I give it a little gas... bring the RPM up to 1500 or so, it reads 17-19:confused: WTF! Lots of white smoke! What got wet that wasn't supposed to?

Am I screwed??? I think I'm going to be sick to my stomach:(

White smoke or more of a purple haze smoke? More purple would mean oil in the combustion chamber from valves.

White might mean water somehow.

Did you check the oil dip stick?
SPark plugs will also tell you something. Pick a couple near where you think the problem is.
 
SCT or vec? also dont sweat it, these things happen...

on the other hand though...4qts in 1k miles..I wanna say thats a lil much even in recentlt built motor...Not casting any stones but just stating something does not look right.

What motor oil you running?

It's dark outside, but the smoke looked white to me. Oil is real black on the dip stick, and smells burnt

VEC and M1 5w30. Something is wrong for sure:(

well I think its very common to get water on the connections for vec and it cause some of the promblems you are getting. I think if you unplug it and blow it out with compressed air that will do it. They also sell little cans of electrical contact cleaner that will do the trick. Many folks have gone thru this and later relocate vec or cover them up

Now that A/f ratio is pretty scary. I'm hopin that maybe the o2 sensor is contaminated and giving incorrect readings. Man honestly at this point I would be tempted to pull the blower and throw on stock intake and stock tune let and watch the motor for a couple thousand miles.


Also on the oil, man I wish I could get ya to try out Castrol 10-60w exclusively designed for BMW M motors. Its very pricey @$9 liter but you should see how well these motors work with it

1) Compression test first thing
2) Leak down test
3) Put a scope in the clyinders and see what it looks like in there.
4)If not forged internals...........Kaboom with a FI engine, every time, it is just when:(
 
Just had the motor built... not really worried about the internals. For the oil being burnt, I'm pretty sure something up with one of the valves on the passenger side.

High voltage codes usually signify that that their is an open circuit. Its just the way the circuit is monitored by the pcm(or vec since thats what you have). What likely got wet is the vec at the harness. Just unplug it from PCM and blow it clean and reconnect. Take a picture of it tomarrow or post one if you have avail to get you in the right direction.

Now being that you have just lost the front o2 sensors which are crucial in providing you a correct a/f that is the reason it is running like crap. Usually when you lose them they run in a extra rich default. I dont know if you still have this default stragedy since your running a blower tune with the vec.

was your engine at operating temperatures when you got the bad A/F ?
During Idling AND outside normal operating temps the PCM monitors the A/F in open loop, i.e. only measures but runs at preset PCM programming.
 
You need to adress the Vec Tune. Mine lost the tune once and it was putting out white smoke as you mentioned. Dry out the Vec box and re install your tune and see if that helps.

As for the Oil issue, you may want to double check your crank case lines, maybe something is kinked or clogged!!

The fact that you are getting strange or high Vaccum readings leads me to believe that theres a vac hose issue!!

Brad sorry to hear of the troubles... Not sure the VEC box would get wet if it's still in the same location...that truck has been pretty wet before and I never had the problem. As Mark said...the VEC can loose a tune, and re-loading the card can help, however after the prior symptoms with oil loss, ect...there might be more than one problem with it. Plus a bunch of fouled out sensors... I got a vid around here of the truck on a "lost tune"... let me see if I can find it..... got it... I shut it off...trailored it to ROE...they cleaned out/serviced the vec...it dropped a pc board in it...re-assembled, and loaded the tune...poof...took about 50 miles to burn off all the bs in the exhaust. Never had another problem with it. This was shortly after the blower install.
Sounds like you need a trip to the builder/tuner.

Water is bad. Never ever use a power wash hand held or not...

I am willing to bet that everything is related to your use of a power wand to wash the truck. In my experience the VEC and water are a terrible mixture.
 
you got your vec wet! do not run it until you dry out the vec! please, you will wash down the bearigns and destroy the motor, it si probably sending a ton of fuel into the engine, immediatly change the oil!

dry out the vec, DONT RUN IT WITH IT LIKE THAT!
 
Check the vacuum connections to the VEC and the electrical connections to it as well. As mentioned, the O2 signal wires get cut and are run through the VEC to stabilize the voltage to the PCM during boost. If you were shooting around there with a pressure washer, something may have become disconnected. I don't think the VEC lost its tune. That kind of computer error can only occur if there's a short (which soapy water making an electrical connection across two terminals can do) or if the ground wire is too long.
On that smoking truck, I recall it was also loaded with a low weight Amsoil synthetic and it seemed to be really getting past the rings.

FYI, if something did become loose and the O2 voltage to the PCM caused the PCM to increase it's fuel pulse, it could have run enough fuel to wash past the rings and into the oil, diluting it. There's a good chance you'll need to change the oil. Smell it and check.

My recommendation overall, check the wires and hoses, make sure everything is dried out and "reset" the PCM (by disconnecting) and load in the VEC card again (doesn't cost anything and only takes second, so why not).

Regarding your AF meter, is it reading off the factory O2 signal, between the sensor and VEC? If so, it may be bad, which can also cause the symptoms you mention (over fueling and decreased power).
