The truck is on the dyno right now and we want to make some changes to the A/F ratio at higher RPM but the laptop is not communicating with the VEC properly. It gives us a error 1. no master miss match and 2. no slave miss match. Also after the cd was downloaded the start up screen says GEN 1. This maybe is the problem?

Start with basics. VEC3 software for the VEC3. Have you been able to connect with the VEC prior to now? Can you use a card reader and read the smart cards?

You need to be in touch with Sean Roe...Having read your other thread annoucing the blown engine I assume this thread is mute...again contact Sean...

Wow, if your were having VEC issues and continued to dyno...damn I hope that was not your decision...bad tune can cause...well you know.

So sorry...hope the damage is minimal.

Are you getting a green light when inserting the card...does it blink twice (I think thats what it is when it acknowledges the program)?

Ya maybe should have stopped, but on the mild tune we just wanted to change the ratios a little. I cant remember exactly what it was, Im thinking 12.5-12.8 at the peak at about 5000RPM. I didnt think it was that critical and the guy running the dyno wasnt concerned about it. We were trying to adjust it a bit to richen it a little. Then put in some 109 octane mixed 50/50 with 94 octane and the race tune. One run and that was it.

Ya this happens, the problem was when hooking the laptop onto the VEC it would communicate but not allow us to alter anything.

You should have not blown the engine with a 12.8 A/F...hell I hit 16.X twice during my pulls while tuning..

Having the problem you mentioned is probably what made the motor let go. When I tuned my truck, Sean said to make sure to change the settings to Gen 3 if not the tune would be completely off. It is fair to say that if you were getting an error message you probably shouldn't have continued trying to tune it or even worse attempted a second dyno run. Sorry to hear about your motor.

Not so sure I understand what was suppost to be changed to Gen 3. Once the software was downloaded to the computer the main screen said Gen 1. At that point I was suppost to change it to Gen 3? Where in the instructions does it say anything like this?

You had to click on settings, then box settings, then click on Gen2/Gen3 using internal map sensor.

Whenever you need assistance again with the vec, just send me a pm. I'll give you my phone number so I could walk you thru any questions you may have. If not, give Sean a call. He walked me thru most of it till I got comfortable using the software. Also, it seems that Windows XP works best with it but I do have it set up with both XP and Vista.

DAMN Sorry to hear about the truck. Must have happened just after i left. Bad afternoon to go dyno'ing. One tranny puke and one engine puke!! crap. If you need a hand to tear it apart . give me a call i would like to get a head start on learning how to fix the inevitable. :argh: :argh: :argh:
