Saw this on youtube. Is this a propane setup for the 10?

More than probably a CNG installation ( compressed natural gas )
It's similar to a LPG installation (liquefied petroleum gas)

Only the vessel pressure is different thus another pressure regulator is needed and adapted injectors for the gas flow.

I drive and LPG conversion on the SRT. LPG is a lot cheaper then gas. It saves me about 650 dollars on gas bills every month. The installation costs about 4,500.00 dollars. So easy decision...
CNG is about the same gain..

Good to know man. Thanks!

What kind of power does set up like that push out? If its less than gasoline I think it would be a waste of a perfectly good srt 10, and $4,500!! For that price you could buy a geo metro that gets 40 mpg! Any one who buys a 505 hp 8.3 V10 should not complain about gas! Fuel prices, yes, but not mileage! It's kinda like dating a stripper, and getting pissed off when she gives someone a lap dance! Or it's kinda like moving from a apartment to a 5 bedroom house, and getting pissed about how much higher new electric bill is! Yuppies!!
On the other hand, if its the same power output or more, then maybe it would be a good mod!

Nobody here fussin bout mpgs. Price per gallon sucks but it's the same if you own a moped or a 7mpg 460 Ford box truck (which my dad has). I have heard that engines produce more torque on NG than gasoline though. If gasoline becomes a rare commodity, then this kit would be a nice idea to be able to keep a piece of history on the roads. :vroam:

the power goes down for about 0.5sec on the 1/4mile.
but we dont use the LPG conversion for power drives or 1/4 mile runs , we use it for long highway trips and easy drivin , when i want the most out of my 10 , i switch it in a second to regular" high octane fuel instead of LPG.

u have no complain when the prices of fuel in the states are 3 times less than here in Europe.

my conversion of $4500 is allready paid itself off.

here a photo from my LPG conversion , in the bed i have a gastank that can fill up with 180liter or 45 gallon LPG (Liquid Propane Gas)

I was not aware you could switch it to gasoline so easily, but even with the higher fuel prices in Europe, I don't think I would do this conversion to my srt 10, I would buy a car that gets better fuel mileage, or buy a smaller vehicle that's already converted. Its still a 4 door 5,500+lbs pick up truck. When I was in college I lived about 50 miles "round trip" from my parents house, I bought a geo metro for $2,000, put a CD player in it, and that was my main vehicle during those years. I averaged around 40 mpg! I would spend about $45 or less on fuel a week!

I still think it's a great idea. It prolly burns cleaner which would keep the engine cleaner. And like you said you can switch between fuels. If ya fill both tanks I bet your range is quite far.

couple years ago i bought the SRT when i was doing more miles/year , if i should buy an SRT now , i dont converse it to LPG , now i do approx. 3000 to 3500 miles a year.

and yes , its a much more cleaner fuel for our motors , only thing is , the engine runs hotter , thats why i did other headers and high flow cats , that mod limit the chance of melting the OEM cats.

we have a couple SRT's here in Belgium , Holland that has melted OEM cat's and some of them damage there engines real bad...

i guess , if u prepare your SRT in the best way for LPG conversion , and dont race on LPG , u can put thousands of $$$ per year in your pocket...;)

Marco (bhpaddict) does alot of miles per year and makes almost $8000 a year profit on drivin LPG...:)

Nice information Sammy! :)
Sounds interesting, not sure if im going to convert mine yet. I also drive about 2500-3000 miles a year.

Whats your Liter/mile (european metric) fuel ratio like on LPG? :)

at the pump i got 28 - 30 liter / 100km
if i do alot highway together with city traffic i go to 26 - 28 liter / 100km
Highway only i have 16 - 18 liter / 100km

with your RC is alot cheaper with the 6-speed manual.

Fuel 98 = 1.80 euro / liter
LPG = 0.60 euro / liter

Hmm, interesting. I have the same consumption with gas as you have with propane

But its a damn price difference
