Putting a new engine in the Vette!

I'll keep this thread updated with pics, as we go along.... Just got her all situated in the garage. We're about to take the hood off, put her up on stands, and start draining fluids. :rock: New ZZ4 350 should be here on Thursday.

Notice the OIL pooled up on the intake??? But, we should have plenty of room (I hope)... I LOVE 3 car garages.

It looks like it's electric. Around here only the gas water heaters need to be elevated to keep low (heavier than air) gasses from finding the flame.

Got enough struts on the garage doors. Living in Florida requires them to be wind loaded. But two per section??? Sping(s) must be huge. We have a minimal wind load up here but our county doesn't enforce it but surrounding counties do.

Gorgeous Vette. Would love to have something like that. Keep us posted.

Thanks, Buddy. No snow in FLORIDA. It's actually humid and rainy here today. I wish WINTER would get here already (70 and sunny all the time).

I put one in a custom truck i built back in the 90's. In that heavy truck it ran excellant. Ran even better w the whipple on it. Hehe

The oil on the intake manifold is what creeps by the intake bolt located where the oil is pooled. This is very common on SBCs. A thread sealer applied to the bolt after cleaning it and the threads in the head usually dry up the oil.

I'm banging my head against the wall, trying to figure out the block code on this old engine. :banghead: I know the suffix is supposed to be 2 or 3 LETTERS telling you what the block is (350/327/302, etc).... but this block's suffix code is one letter and two NUMBERS!??!?! What the hell is that supposed to mean? Anyone have any ideas? :dontknow:

I make can make out "H64"... the rest is pretty hard to read, because some MORON decided to deck the block in the past.

actually look at this site, they will tell you where the numbers are.

That oil is typical on small block chevy's if you don't use sealer on the bolts. The threads go into the oil.

I already know it's a "010" block (Casting number 3970010)... the thing about that is... that particular block could either be a 327 (1969 industrial or truck), a '69 302DZ (which it's not ), or a 350 (run of the mill, from 1969-80)...
