Putting a new engine in the Vette!

Gonna look great! Except... I like the aluminum heads the way they are... But! I understand the 'stock' look approach, so I will let it go... This time... :p

I like the oddity factor. :D I want people to be scratching their heads, trying to figure out what it's got on it. .... I've always heard the stories of the street racers in the 60's-70's painting their hi-po aluminum heads to "look" like stock. ;)

great Jake.... what HP is that ZZ4 engine :dontknow: .... is your oldie C2 capable of keeping that together ? :p :D :D

It's only 355hp... but it's gonna have over 400ft/lb torque. :) The chassis is pretty much new. I rebuilt all of that earlier this year. The Muncie 4-speed is a M-21 and in good shape (except for the leaks, which I'll fix when it's out of the car)... The diff is in good shape. :dontknow:

my neighbor has a 69 chevelle....with 307 badges:dontknow: i think...everything looks like some run of the mill sbc...heads, intake, block, painted orange....

but...

it's a 400 sbc...with about 500 hp....and runs 8.2's, i think...

you'd never know ... until he passed you;)

Jake, If you are gonna drive it hard at all you should replace your half-shafts and u-joints with HD pieces. Look at the bottom of your battery box and you can tell if it has broken them before.

Battery is in the front of the car on C2's. ;) And, I already put HD shafts in a couple years ago. :D Thanks, tho!

Tired old girl... :(

We'll be masking off the new engine for paint tomorrow... all the rest of the new shiny-goodness should be here by Monday. Until then, we'll also be detailing and touch-up-painting the engine bay.

Jake,

Sorry if I missed it, but did you find anymore identification to the old engine?

Wil

Does the new(or old) engine have the windage tray,6qt. pan with the little flipper doors in it ???????

Everything I've found points to a re-manufactured 350ci. Nothing special. :(

Well at least you know and there isn't too much remorse replacing it.

Going to be a real quick car when you done. Keep us posted Jake. :burnout:
