guys, I will continue with the installation of RC rear sway bars on a 05'QC. 06 models may be different as frame was changed.

The rear sway was removed from a RC with all hardware except the mounting tabs for the sway bar links. These are the only pieces to be fabbed up! They consist of a 1/4" thick 2" wide piece of flat steel that is about 8 inches long. I bent it into a "U" shape with the vertical parts of the "U" at 2.5" long and the bottom of the "U" being 1 3/8" wide. These tabs will be welded on the flat, bottom of the frame for the sway bar links to mount to after you determine the location by installing the sway to the axle first!!!

Now to the easy part!! Let's install this bar already!
First, I installed the bolt plate into the lower shock mount. This simply falls into place in the predrilled holes in the lower shock mount. Next, you install the bushing and clamshell onto the bar and bring the assembly up to the shock mount where the 2 studs of the bolt plate are awaiting the clamshell and nuts to make this a done deal. Repeat for other side! Tighten hardware in place. Finally you take the loose link ends of the sway bar and hook them up to the mounting tabs you fabbed earlier. Bring them up to the frame to where they are as vertical as you can get, then tack in place, followed by a full weld once you are happy with postioning. One bolt thru, the mount tab, thru the eyelet in the link, and thru the other side of mount tab, tighten and repeat process for the other side.

Enjoy your newfound stability!!

I will be doing more research as to the use of Dually 1-ton as well as single wheel 1-ton rear sways to see if they are any thicker and would prove useful on our quest for handling!
Hope you enjoy your new sport truck!:burnout:

This is very cool! Hopefully one of our vendors can make a kit at a good price.

i did the same thing but i used the oem body mounts for the top of the swaybar links and dropped the bolts threw the frame...looks oem.....

i am not sure if u mentioned this, is there a difference in driving by having a RC sway over a QC sway?

QC doesnt have a rear sway bar from the factory bro..... only a front.... this mod is to add one from a RC

Just another reason RC are better :p :aetsch:

Anyone have any idea why they didn't come with them? It's not like there was something in the way. Or maybe because of the longer wheelbase, they felt that it wasn't needed.

No problem, you have too good to me with all these new parts. Take alll the pics you want. I will be the guinea pig to mount this kit up and will let folks know how it goes. It is 1.25" solid bar and mounts in front of the fear axle. I didn't want something that would compromise me taking down the spare tire. BTW, this will accompany an Addco front bar (1.5" solid bar), and the other Stinker bushings/springs/Caltracs. From my research, these were the biggest bars I could find for this vehicle. If anyone finds bigger ones, such as from a 2500/3500, I would sure be interested to know more.

cool beans, got alot to catch up on, but willl yank the head off for ramcharger today and take some pics of the sway bar unit,

nwo when the heck are you gonna actually stay in one place so I can get this stuff outta here?? OLOLOLOOLOLOOLOLOL:D :D :D

Just found one of my Xmas gifts. When Joy calls you for ideas, put this at the top of the list. Thank you father. :)

News Update!!

So after looking at some trucks at work today I found a 2001 single wheel 3/4 ton and a 2002 single wheel one ton and both had exactly the same rear sway setup as the RC10 so there should be plenty available for all!! Still looking for a fatter factory one on a new model.
