Quality of gasoline

Thanks John.

I did not know that the detergent concentration of most gas had been reduced so much.

I try to use Chevron gas and run a bottle of Chevron Techron, (which is gas detergent), in the tank full just before an oil change.

The reason for just before an oil change is beacuse some of the gunk that is knocked loose with the cleaning, gets into the oil.

How does the gunk get in the oil?:dontknow: Does it get past the rings?

Exactly it gets by the rings into the crankcase. The gunk comes from the deposits on the injectors, intake valves, combustion chambers and piston tops. Mostly the injectors and intake area.

Good quality gas does make a differance, in not just how the motor runs but in how long it will last.

When we did a professional fuel injection clean on a neglected dirty motor it would turn fresh, almost clear oil, coal black like it came out of a diesel.

Regular maintenance and good quality products make a vehicle last longer.

Thanks JR and Fstjack. Very interesting thread...
