Quick question. Will the K&N diesel cone filter fit the stock box on an 04? I thought I read somewhere where someone did this with some minor trimming...
Thanks guys...

Trim the plastic shown below about 1/8" and the cone filter will fit right in..

Thanks TNVIPER. I trimmed about an inch off because I didnt want the air from the hose blocked.
Also I noticed that my airbox did not have the plastic insert. The one I bought did have it. I didn't use it anyway.
There was about a 3/4 gap getween the actual box and where it should fit against the fender. It had factory foam rubber that had deteriorated and was sucked into the air box. I wonder why my stock box didn't have the plastic insert? It is an early 04. Did they change it and add the plastic flange insert later?
I also sealed the space with some foil mastic that heating and air guys use to seal ductwork.
Apearantly it was sucking hot air in from the engine compartment.

The first pic is from inside the airbox after I sealed it up.

Second pic is a piece of the foam rubber that was sucked into the airbox.

Third pic is the air deflector flange that was not on my stock box. Do you guys have that piece inside of the airbox? I had to remove it to make the new filter work and trim the flange inside of the box.

TNVIPER it looks like you have the foam rubber also.
