any body know at what temp the fan comes on at the two different speeds? (stock ecm). just trying to see if mine is up to par... cold i can stop the fan with my hand, but i'm not so sure i have heard it at high speed.(some have said it is loud):dontknow:

you would know it if it were in high speed - it's loud...... :( no, i don't know @ what temp.
my temp is running around 200-205 in this heat...maybe not hot enough to switch the fan to high? (i have an early B&G flash)

These power steering pumps seem to go bad and also power the fan. Mine was replaced and the fan runs much stronger now.

The signs I noticed were slow fan speeds (HI and LO), very heavy steering at slow speeds, and an occasional squeal when cold and turning the wheel to around the stops (i.e. backing out of driveway). I don't know what temps it kicks in HI and LO at but now I can hear it running big time when shes going. Prior to the PS being changed I did not really hear much. Truck never got hot but with a tune and T-Stat it stays around 170-185F. Was almost at 200F prior with the same setup.

Without a tune turning the fans on sooner, temp wise, 200F is normal with stock T-Stat and stock tune (stock T-Stat is 185F). If you have a tune turning your fan on sooner you have to change the T-Stat to a colder one 170-172F. If not the fan is going to be fighting the T-Stat constantly and put undo stress on the PS pump. If you change out the T-Stat to a colder one without the tune you will still notice the temps go up to 200F when it is above 35-40F, it will just take longer to get there because the coolant was allowed to go into the motor sooner.

Hope this helps a bit.

hmmmmm......i have a 172* thermostat, maybe i need to send it back to B&G,(like i said i have had the flash in for about 4 years now) and have them tweak it.

If the tune they gave you is kicking on the fans early for the lower T-Stat you most likely have a PS pump that is heading south. With the pump working properly your temps should be around 175-185F not 200F. In other words the temp needle should be somewhere between the hash mark to the left of the 200F. Between those two somewhere. The hash mark to the left of 200F is 170F. Half of 200-140 is 30, therefore 170F.

Hash Marks on Temp Gauge:
200-140 =60
60/2 = 30
140+30 = 170 (Not Labeled, hash mark between 140 and 200)

my steering is normal though...going to check fan switch relays. just wish i knew at what temps (stock ecm) the fans kick on at. (low and high)
