Question about Stock Amp & Sub

:dontknow: Sub quit working. Checked the amp and the lil green light is still on. Tried to pull out the sub to check it and I don't know how the hell they fastened it in there let alone how to unfasten it to remove it?? Anoyne Know?

Also...if its the sub that is dead I am thinking about buying a better one. Can I just wire that into the existing stock amp? I see the stock sub has a wierd connection on it. Does the amp power the front speakers as well as the sub? Anyone replaced the front speakers?


Oh yeah....what the hell are those things on the back wall of the cab behind the seats....looks like 5 smaller plastic latches that flip up?????:dontknow:

There are two amps ; one for the front and side speakers and one for the sub.There is a TSB from Dodge about them.I just had mine replaced under warranty/TSB and it sounds a lot better.There are some that are far more knowledgeable about replacing them than me,so I can offer little input there.They do seem to be a pain to change due to ohms and size if I recall correctly.

If you dont want to warranty it......There are two screws holding the sub enclosure in place. One on each side. Once you remove them you have to pull the enclosure towards you and manuver it out of the brackets holding it in place. If you have a meter handy, you can ring out the voice coils from the leads going into the sub, ohms scale/R x 100 setting will work across the positive and negative. You will probably see an open. Its a dual voice coil sub, so you will have to ring both out, if one is open or very high resistance then your sub is nuked. The sub and the amp are weak so it could be either or. I replaced both, because shortly after I upgraded the sub the amp went out. The amp is more complex to trouble shoot but if your sub checks out, you probably can be certain your amp is the culprit. If I've confused the hell out of you...PM me and I'll walk you through it.

the one for the front/sides is behind the dash and hard to access I've been told
