Whats a good rpm to launch at with street tires,i was launching around 1800 rpm's and hooking just fine, trying to findout how much higher i can take the rpm's upto

sorry, have to admitt I'm still a newbie with this.
That's " being in "D", holding the brake and reving up " you're talking about right?:dontknow:

You want to leave with as much as you can without spinning tires. You will need to practice different launches to get it right. Good luck.

I guess tire pressure, tire temp and road temp will be a part of the equation. No fixed rpm under various conditions...

I leave at about 1800 rpm also. There is evidence of leaving just off idle is better. Somethin about the torque converter locking up. I just read a brief description. I have tried both and seem to get a better time @ 1800 rpm.

AWDisuzu and SRTBRAD leave just off idle and have good results doing it that way. Just have to play and find what works best for ya. Hope that confuses you more.

I do not know if this works for the QC or not...

...Back when I had my hemi someone was talking about launching off idle and they said it was way faster, I didn't believe them so we made a few passes next to each other, he lauched at least 1/2 a car lenght in front of me every time. After I was tring to find out why, with the a/c off and the truck warmed up it dropped the idle to 500 rpm. That was so low that the truck would not even roll if I let my foot off the brake. When I floored it the rpm shot up to 4,000+ and then the converter grabbed and boggged it down some. When I power braked it up to about 2,000 and launched it the rpms never jumped way up, so it never had a chance to make the power that it did when launch off idle....

Got get it up to about 1000 rpm to get the slack out of the motor. roll into it and than mash it.

Anything over 800 rpm's is to much Chub. Launch just above idle and feather it outta the hole....Then lay the hammer down, hope this helps :D

I just leave off idle, as mentioned before. 1.8 60' times with NOS and no tire spin unless I hit the NOS too soon.

On street tires in my SRT10 my best launches have been by:
-having 22 psi in my rear tires
-driving around the water box
-doing a 4,000 rpm powerbrake burnout in 1st for about 10 seconds
-at the line, after braking give it a little gas and let off to get more boost on the brake (pedal will sink) so I could hold a higher rpm at the line,
-spin up to 1,800,
-then launch full throttle

My best 60' in my SRST10 QC is 1.955. I keep looking for the 1.8x folks say I should get. Any suggestions are appreciated.

May or may not apply to our SRT10s but the Hemi supposedly had a self-protect mode that kicked in after just a few seconds of power braking. I don't remember how long it was but do recall that after spinning up at the line for some number of seconds the computer would supposedly start pulling timing and dropping transmission line pressure.

My best Hemi QC 60' was 2.002

ok guys thx for the info,my best 60' time was 2.033 ,that was holding it at 1800rpm (no spin),i'll try it both ways when i get to the track next week

Don't raise the RPMs that much. You are engaging torque management and killing your power....Launch from idle and press the gas steadily. The speed will depend on how much wheel spin you get....

Whatever you decide to launchat Clint, remember one of the most IMPORTANT criteria,DON"T follow behind those sorry sacks of chitt in RED QC's with leaking power steering lines, you'll go up in smoke every time !!!!
