A friend of mine asked me this question and I really don't know the answer:

"Do you know if the diff carrier is the same with the 4.10 gear as it is with the 4.56 gear. I want to re-gear my 4.56 and the shop is telling me I need to buy a new diff as well as a new ring and pinion. If my axle was tired I might consider it, but mine has only 10,000 miles."

What do you guys say?

Don't quote me on this, but back in my Hemi truck days I remember newer trucks required some grinding on the carrier housing on the inside for new gears. This was on Dodgetalk.com

noid, do a search on unitrax gears on the forum, there is a guy that works at unitrax(forgot his name but it's in one of the old threads) that still works there and he is the one that found all the carriers and gears to swap in our trucks in the first place. i talked to him a few months ago and i think it was about 450ish with a new carrier(i needed a carrier because i was looking at 4.88's) anyway the guy knows his stuff, he'll ask you for some numbers off your diff and make sure you have the right stuff.

edit: i looked back real quick the guy you need to talk to is Devin
