question, can I use silicone?

lol
NO!

Silicone is not strong enough to do the job. You will just be wasteing your time.

Never use silicone on a vehicle for anything other than sealing gaskets.

The problem with silicone is nothing sticks to silicone but more silicone. So once you put silicone on something the area is now contaminated. So nothing else with ever stick there, until all the silicone has been removed.

I would ask that any of you that do this to your shifter, please post up with your results.

I want some too Bill:(
You can go to any local Auto Glass replacement business near you and get the materials.

About the only way I could make it easier is if you send me your shifter handle, plus $20.00, plus the return shipping, and I could do it for you.
