I have put back $4,000 to spend on mods. I can't decide whether to spend this on the Charger SRT8 or the SRT10 QC...The Charger already has catbacks, hi-flow cats, B&G flash, Mopar CAI...if I do the Charger the $4K will be more than enough to install PP heads & PP intake...This would be my route with the Charger.

The only mod I have on the QC is a K&N CAI (POS compared to the Mopar)...If I knew that $4K worth a mods would make a significant change in performance (100+HP) I might just do the QC and do the PP heads on the Charger next year along with a cam if the current issues are cleared up.

I have read thread after thread about the different mods out there. Problem I have is there are so many I really can't come to conclusion.

Anyway, you guys that have modded heavily..what would you recommend...PP heads, cam, flash, headers, etc...in order of preference, brand and approx cost. I forgot to mention that I definitely want to lower the truck...who has the best and what am I looking as far as cost?..and any difference in ride quality?

First of all, the flash is the #1 must mod for the qc. It'll take a second off your quarter mile time, I think its like a 75 HP increase. DC Performance, X Metal sells them. Cost depends if you get a new pcm or not $450-900. X metal also has the best drop kit out there. Cost depends on which options you buy....$600 and up. Dont bother with cheaper kits.......lots of threads about how they did not work out. A cheap mod that adds power is getting rid of the cats. Mid pipes cant be found for around $400 or so, X metal has them, so does Roe Racing. Headers are cool but pricey......real power comes from losing the cats but they do have the bling factor. Belanger and Mopar are the long tube favorites $1500 and up. Bassani and Gibson are the shorties, not sure on price there.

Hope that helps.......and yes of course only mod the QC, we are truck dudes here!!! LOL:rock:

What Patrick said! Or...save a couple more thousand and just add the Roe SC.

Thanks for the come back Patrick...is the only reason to get a new PCM to keep the dealer from knowing?..The service mgr at my dealer could care less what mods I do...no warranty issue...I think he gets more excited than I do about mods going on both my SRTs...

Would the mid pipes be needed with LT headers?..Am I correct in my understanding that the Mopar Headers do away with the cats?...

Any suggestion on what options for the lowering kit?..I am not looking for a big drop...should I just talk to Boomer?

Thanks for your help...what you have said confirms what I have been getting out of a majority of the posts I have read.

If you need to tow anything you would want to have the stock pcm. Something about the tow/haul button. Hoepfully a QC guy will chime in. Not sure about the LT mid pipes question. I want to say yes but I am not sure. Boomers QC drop has options. You would be better served by talking with him. Several drop options, handling options etc... He is a super guy and very helpful so I would just call.

Your lucky to have a svc mgr whom is cool. I would be on my knees thanking the big guy for that!!! LOL

Thanks, I am going to cal Boomers tomorrow...yeah, my service mgr is great...his opinion is why build a car/truck with this kind of power and think people are going to use them to just to get to work/church and back..;)

Boomer is your man ,most of my mods (see list below)comes from him, latest one Caltracs. Very good advice and service when needed .

Patrick covered all the basics, definately give Boom a shout he'll take care of ya!!

All good advice......... Welcome to the club......

I thought you were also vacillating between the truck and the Charger....

Do you need capacity for hauling things that the Charger can't handle? If so, you definately need the truck... I have guitars and amps that a Charger may be to samll to handle.... If you don't need all the storage capacity, then you may wanna take the lighter of the two vehicles for a more "seat of the pants" blast of power..... These trucks are heavy...

Again, welcome..

Thanks....I still plan on modding the Charger more..lots more...but seemed like the Viper gains more power per $ spent than the Charger at present....the SRT8s are still the new kids on the block...mods are expensive & uncertain..DC seemed to put more nanny controls on the SRT8s maybe in an effort to keep us from modding....anyway I am hopelessly infected with the mod bug and the SRT10 kept talking to me.."mod me"....:2in1:
