quick oil pan question

just a quick question..since i some how shot my #3 rod threw my oil pan..does any one know what it is made of?

cause im tring to squeze money just for parts getting this thing build. an iv got a buddy of mine that heli arc's an if its made out of alum. i can have him patch it up.. or heck even for 1600 bucks ..seems like itd be cheaper to have on bulit..anyideas?
 
so how should i have it welded i have a wire feed...should it be heli arc'd?

well i guess it should be heli arc'd an iv got a friend that weld alum. for a living at his machine shop so it shouldnt be that big of a deal..its worth a shot for 20 bucks

It is made out of aluminum
 
wooooohoooo now i just hope the dealership put it in my truck an didnt throw it away!
 
A good experienced welder could probablly fix you up - my hubby suggests a 60 series filler rod and make sure it is clamped all the way around to a really flat surface and pre heated and post heated. Biggest problem may be getting the oil out of the pourosity in the weld area - good luck. :rock: :rock: :rock:
