I am putting my hardened pushrods in, they have a half machined ball end on ones side and a rounded end on the other. I am pretty sure the ball end goes to the rocker. Can someone verify this for me. Thanks

Called the Compcams tech line cause they are still open, the tech said ball end to Rocker, and rounded end to lifter. So I am on re-assembly.

Does you engine have a forged bottom end?

Not yet that's this winter I don't plan on racing it this summer or doing anything stupid :D

The reason I ask... if your still stock and utilizing other stock components, it may be advantageous NOT to use hardened pushrods.

With a blower you could easily float a valve and if you contact a valve with a piston it could cause catastrophic damage to the block. Hardened pushrods don't bend i.e. the OE ones.

If you float a valve with stock pushrods and contact a valve, the stock pushrods will just crumple and you may very well dodge a bullet.

it's together and runs good, ready for Saturday, as for floating valves I never go above 5000rpm and the truck spends more time in the garage than on the road.

Um, not to be buzz kill but then what's the point? Higher RPM's later?
Just curious.

Yeah basically Im going to do the engine this winter, I read the thread about the one guy that had a bent pushrod and broken valve spring so I figure befor the start making trips out to the lake this summer I better fix the weak link before it costs me more, last year the 1st 2nd syncro went going down the highway when I got to the lake I couldn't get into first gear so I spent the weekend all mad thinking what I had done on that road trip to wreck it.

I didn't have time this past winter to do the engine I was working out the bugs with the roe and the $$$ factor too so this coming winter it will get done.

figured it was somethin like that. Yeah, that's the trouble with these damn hotrods....high stress breaks stuff. Good luck with your build.
