Hey guys, i have an 06 srt10 QC, ive owned it for like a month, its all stock from what i now, except rear cat delete, flowmaster muffler (previous owner) and the k&n drop in i just did.

This guys works with me and he swears his corvette is faster than anything, well we lined them up and we only raced to about 70 because we ran out of road, i beat him by a car :D, the truck peeled off a lil bit but took off like a rocket and always squeels in 2nd gear, how do i know if this truck has been tuned before me? I thought he was going to burn me. He wants another try at it.

lol there was a witness, so the vette guy cant deny the defeat, we made fun of him for 3 straight days, you got beat by a big heavy truck.. buwhahaha :p.

Ive read that usually if you get an SCT tune the truck water temp doesnt reach 200 due to a colder tsat, well mine reaches 200, would that mean no tune? or not necessarily?

To be honest, I think the C6 should have handed you your ass. Even with a tune your pushing 5600 lbs. To his 3200 lbs. :dontknow:

that is great cuz I am about to race my captain's 2008 c6 vette. He just bought it days ago. Its got the paddle shifting so I know it shifts faster but I dont know if hes got it down to a drag science yet. My best run on street tires is 13.06, we will see. Good run man!!!

If you change the stat to say a 172 stat and get a tune that turns the fans on at that temp your truck will stay close to 172......if you have a 172 stat and no tune to turn on the fans then truck will operate at around the normal 200.........

In other words if your temps stay around 200 it does not mean you do or do not have a tune........around 200 is normal..

Normally I would think the vetter would take you but you never know what was done to your truck.

Was the vetter a manual - could just be a bad driver.

Either way YOU WON - thats what counts!

My daddy always told me to let 'em win at least the first cupple. Then turn it loose when the real money's on the table......

John's (JR) evaluation is correct IMO.....

Be careful out there........

FYI - just check time slips from this past weekend (my 2006QC versus my wife 2006 vette) through the 1/8 mile we were within .20 seconds of each other BUT BUT by the end of the quarter she was typically .5-.7 seconds quicker.

I think the weight and barn door shape will make a difference if you run a whole quarter mile.

So enjoy the kill and give him heck about it and avoid the longer race...

If you can nail that low 13 again and he is stock should be a good run, it will be all about the launch. I have seen some C6's stock running 12.6-7's but not many.

thanks for the responses guys, the vette is fully loaded with all the options, paddle shifters and all, i really think he would start pulling after 70.

I have the extended warranty on the truck and i dont want to go to the dealer and have my warranty void because of an aftermarket tune, the truck has a CEL due to the rear o2 sensors.

So basically theres no way of knowing if it was tuned or not besides having the dealers find out??

if you dont have anythign you can hold in your hand..........you probably dont have a tune

and a QC should easily beat a bone stock vette

I guess I am missing something I thought most QC's ran mid to upper 13.'s stock?

My wifes 06 vette, automatic, convertible, with every option on the check list runs 13.05-09's all day long.

You have to be all stock I have a SCT tune and thats it everything is stock including filter and off the line i smoke them through third gear. Stock you will spin through first and churp second.

get a tune bud, you should be able to run a vette heads up in the quarter and win 5 outta 7 times;)

OK my QC has SCT/Torrie (93 octane) tune and drop in K&N - other than that it is bone stock. Ran 13.60's last week. Posted it up last week and everyone seemed to think that was inline with what it should have ran.

Am I off the mark should my 2006 QC run 13.00's?

The dealer has no way of telling if there is a tune on the truck....but they might flash over it if they do an update...........IMO if I bought a truck and thought there may be a tune I would have the dealer flash a stock tune over it.....a custom tune could cause you problems with certain mods...

There is one possiblity that you may be able to tell if you have a tune....if the PCM is from DC Perf or B&G it will have a sticker on the back with their name....you will have to remove the PCM to see this...
