racing brake fluid

DOT 5 fluid....

don't forget a big reason why DOT 5 (silicone based) brake fluid is on the market.....

IT IS NOT CORROSIVE TO PAINT!

I prefer a good quality "hi-temp" DOT 4. Flushing the brakes once a year has been my standard on my cars (not my wife's though....) for quite a few years. Preventive maintainence ensures many things in life.....

not on the 04's... they have floating calipers all around with 2 pistons , 1 bleeder.

Are the 05,06 calipers better ? :dontknow: anybody drove both to compare ??:dontknow:
I think the 05,06 calipers have a better bite.

You can use Neo high temp, that is compatble with DOT 3 fluid so you do not have to get all the old fluid out IE; rebuilding caliper.....

It also has a very long life........

i did indeed demount all calipers and flushed them good with fresh racing brake oil , some 2 to 3 times....
OEM oil was indeed like motor oil

only could make short trip ( today more :D ) ... must breaking in pads on the not so plain rotors anymore... :(

next will be new rotors and pads...:nurse:

isn't DOT 5 more agressive on the seals too?:dontknow:
Our manual prescribes DOT 3, if not available then DOT4 or 4+.

yep.. don't use DOT5.. much more hydroscopic ... good for race cars , refilling a few times a year... :( :D

so what did you use in the end? 3, 4 or 4+ ? Brand?
BLUE racing brake fluid... it's DOT 4 with extra high boiling point .. (think 280 °C )

brakes are indeed alot better now... don't know how long they would last now on Zolder  :dontknow: :D
