My trans is being rebuilt, so I headed to the rental car place and they had a 2013 Ram 1500 with the 3.6 Pentastar V6 with the 8 speed auto. I have been really curious about it so I got it. First thing I noticed was the gear selector is literally a dial on the center cluster, really an uneasy feeling putting into park and not feeling the thud of the trans going into "P". Anyhow, as soon as I left I floored it and held it there for a while. I was really surprised at how well this little 300hp V6 mated to the 8 speed propelled this big ass quad cab ram. It shot up to 60 way faster than I expected and that trans is so smooth you cant even tell when its changing gears. Kinda reminded me of my wifes old Altima that had that trans that never changed gears. Dont get me wrong, it has nothing on the 10's, but for what it is I was impressed. And it gets like 20-24 mpg so that doesnt suck. That engine with that trans is more than enough for an everyday driver if you wanna keep miles off your other toys. Just my little review.
