Ok guys....
If you have followed this thread on the Hurst Shifter woes......
http://www.srt10forum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11324
...You'll know that the OEM shifter has its limitations. Fact, its not Hurst's fault, but DC's fine marketing choices. Nuff said. I have been working with Hurst to test a spring kit that will allow the OEM shifter to hit the 3rd - 4th gate more reliably. I have tested a setup that has a nice improvement over the OEM setup with great results. I had some issues at first. All is well now.
What I've come up with, with the help of Hurst and another tester, is a way to vastly improve your shifter without buying a new one. It works very well and won't cost ANYWHERE near the price of a new shifter. Take a look at the above link. Here are the steps....
1. Remove the isolator
2. Cut your OEM shifter 2.5"
3. Install the "Hurst Upgrade Kit"(FINALIZING WITH HURST)
4. Bleed your clutch (I stole my kid's gatorade bottle and some clear hose)
Now, As soon as Hurst creates a part number for the kit, I will let all know. PLEASE don't call them and waste supports time. They won't know what you are talking about anyway. I'm working with two Engineers...not support. OK?
The retaining screws for the springs are a major pain to remove. I broke 3 T25trying. I had to use a chisle. Otherwise, very easy to do.
Again Guys, I will let you know as soon as Hurst starts the ball rolling. Hopefully, I've helped alot of you with this same same problem and refuse to spend hundreds of dollars correcting it. It should be relatively cheap.
Take all that saved money and by a CenterForce Clutch. I'm going to shortly.
