Ok street tires stock clutch... whats is you 60' and how did you do it.

I cut a 1.9 and seemed to get 2.0XX every time. The 1.9 was letting the rpms at launch go up to 4000, then slipping the clutch for a milli sec and then smoothly letting off while mashing the gas. The 2.0XX I could get but dooing the same only at 3000. At about 2500 i could just drop the clutch and go, but it would bog hardcore. I don't like burning the cluch that much, so how do you launch?

its hard to launch these trucks without spinning them on a stock clutch. You cant have the best of both worlds. If you slip it, you burn up the clutch FAST, if you drop it, you spin like crazy. Best bet if aftermarket clutch & hydraulics + slicks, and you get great traction!

Yup, slipping the clutch is your best option to pull that 1.9. As Patrick and Red mentioned, its also going to put your clutch on death row in no time.

2.0 with the occasional 1.9 is about as good as it gets with the stock tire, suspension setup. The good thing now is there are options ;) Traction bars, adjustable shocks, DR's and if you are willing to shave your rear calipers or replace them...you can run slicks.

mmmmtorque.....didnt you mention on my first track thread getting consistant 1.9-2.0's by going off idle? Did you just have your foot on the gas just to where it was opening the throttle, then sidestep the clutch and drop the hammer at the same time?

Drive it out, agressivley.

I had 1.98 60' times and I did not launch at idle or high RPM's. This was also at a well preped track.

Drive it ourt just like you are starting out on the street.

Let the clutch out agressivley while feeding the gas quickly. I did not have to slip the clutch excessivley.

The track prep on any given day COMPLETELY makes all the difference in your launch. I went 2 different days to the SAME track. First trip I could launch at 3000 rpms and barely spin. Prep was awesome (just after a NHRA event), truck hooked like a big dog.

Second trip to the same track and anything over 2000 rpms the tires went up in smoke. :burnout:

You just gotta try a few runs on any given day and see what you can get away with. :dontknow:

I ran with half a tank of gas. I'll run next time with a full tank. It'll add another 100 lbs on the back end.

Don't do it, I ran at empty (light was on), first time I went. Next time I had 3/4 tank plus left the spare in. Slowed me atleast .10 in the quarted and the 60's were almost Identical, Actually I had my best 60 with next to no gas in the tank.

:dito: I ran my best time with almost no gas and no spare. Fix your traction by launching easier. Your ET will suffer with the additional weight.

As mentioned earlier, track prep is the most important. Additionally, your launch is dependant one how much HP you are running and of course through in weather conditions.

For my truck, having my foot on the gas, around 1000 RPM (at or little over idle) then slamming the gas at the last yellow along with a swift release off the clutch (not a complete side step) gave me the most consistent launches. I'm running around 510rwhp/530ft lbs so cant launch as aggressivly as I used to on the stock tires.

Thanks torque...I'll try your technique next time. I'm running 523rwtq so this may be part of my problem also on stock tires and clutch.

Usually 1.9-2.0 at the track, but my best was a 1.82 60' on a sticky track. I revved it to 4K and held it steady, then quickly engaged the clutch (slipped it a little bit) while trying to keep the revs at ~4K. Then I mashed the gas and held on!:D Truck never squeaked a tire!

......... supercharged, street tire @ 18#'s/rear, 45#'s/front, leave the line @ 1400-1600/rpm, drop the hammer, leave about 10/foot rubber, and then she catches.
The problem is you have to be Captain Lightfoot in first gear with a street tire.
Before we started modding her, I could actually throw a power/shift into second...not anymore...
