does anyone know what the bolt/thread size is for the brake line onto the rear calipers is?? i'm going to pull my calipers to have them shaved/powdercoated, i'd like to plug the fluid reservoir...... tony guessed 14mm & justin guessed 10x1.0mm, does anyone know for sure? :dontknow: thanks.
Another approach: depress the brake pedal and hold it there with a block of wood or something, then disconnect the brake lines. Did it when I replaced the brakes on the GTS, and again when I painted the calipers on the truck (several days). Disconnect the battery first so your brake lights aren't on.
I don't know the size of the bolts but i would take a set of brake hose pliers ( or vice grips ) and pinch off the lines gently so they don't leak, and take the bolts and and brass washers and put them back into the calipers or grab a couple of those plastic plugs just to keep the crap out of them.
not sure i follow what you're saying here...... if i apply pressure to the pedal & then remove the brake line from the caliper, i'll end up with fluid everywhere - won't i ?? :dontknow:
No, you won't--I was surprised when I tried it the first time, after reading about it on the VCA forum. The fluid in the line will drain out, but it's not very much. The fluid in the reservoir stays put. Can't find the original thread. I'll keep looking and post the link if I can find it.
I've got the complete book on our trucks at I can check and let you know wed. That book was over $400 but very helpful in making my truck smell good going down the highway.
sounds good, thanks. btw, what book is this??:dontknow: are you talking about the dodge service manual (~1800 pages)? i've got that, downloaded free off the internet......
got some machining work done today to shave my rear calipers to fit my 16" wheels/slicks, still need to put a taper on the outer edge...... took 30 minutes to machine. if the powers that be ok it, my machinist friend may be willing to do others for a small fee, powdercoating them will be up to you......
