Here in the near future I want to replace my stock 4.10 gears and upgrade to the 4.56 gears. Can someone point me in the right direction as to where is the best place to buy them from for my truck

4.88s FTW!!!!!!

4.88? Would it be bad about falling off toward the higher rpms?

You have to talk to Cody about 4.88's . He will sing a song about them with his shirt off. He has the fastest Street truck running 4.88's.

High. I don't remember meeting you before so please allow me to say "hello". Gears are a popular topic when discussing our trucks. If you would like, I can dig up an old thread or two that you might find helpful. Otherwise, my personal opinion is that 4.88's make for a very fun truck on the street, but actually slow you down if racing (more wheelspin = slower truck).

What kind of downfalls could I expect from 4.88 gears besides no traction off the line?

Hello caveman. Yea ive been here a little while but I believe you are correct about never meeting. I would sure appreciate whatever info you could dig up for me and im for sure more looking for street fun instead of track fun. I very rarely go to the track so that wouldn't be to much of an issue for me as far as off the line traction. I mean I can only imagine how much shifting I would have to be doing with 4.88 gears but if I wanted my left leg to be lazy then I should have bought a QC right? [emoji6]

Why do you say that?

VENM505

I was facetiously stating 4.88s are the way to go. SRT2slow is saying that because 4.10s are the perfect gear for higher power trucks. Leave the 4.10s, spend the money on power mods, adjust gear ratio with tire height when you go to the track.

Well I don't really have a whole lot of plans to go all out on my truck. Honestly just dont have the money to go really high horsepower and even what power I will eventually end up getting, I very rarely go to the track so I want to go with higher gears (or lower gears depending on how you are looking at it) so that I can have faster acceleration than what the 4.10s are giving me. Basically I want red light to red light gears instead of track gears.

4.88's will make your truck feel 1000 pounds lighter. But, when you are racing, even from light to light, you will have traction problems. If you just want more pep for general driving, 4.88's are the way to go.

Well I have already kinda excepted that traction is always going to be an issue with the amount of torque these trucks put out but yes, more pep is exactly what im looking for without a doubt. More harder and faster acceleration with street driving.

Man it for sure seems like the guys with 4.10s that went to the 4.88s really liked the swap and how they were taking about how the hole shot felt and the acceleration is exactly what im looking for. Thanks alot for all the threads. I think I am sold on the 4.88s!

VENM505

Haha. You said you wanted more pep.. lol. I have 4.56's. If you were closer I would swap.
Lmao sorry, I let that one go over my head. Blonde moment for me. [emoji51] Yea it would be cool to be close enough to swap cause I would def do it.
