REAR END NOISE QUESTION NEED HELP !!!

after running on strip at pananma i noticed a slight whine or growling noise from rear end .. put it up on jack stands put it drive spun it didnt really notice alot of noise ... my question is when i have it stopped i grab the tire and rotate by hand back and forth and notice there is about 1/4" to 1/2" play in it .. is this normal ??? and if not what you guys think is the problem .. sending it to dealership on tuesday to service and check it out ... also when auto trans is in nuetral tires still spin a little is that normal ??? i dont think it is , and is noise possibly from tranny ?

Can't help with some of this but be sure your gear selector lever is where it belongs. There is a little play in mine and if the light is not on in drive or 2nd or whatever, it is still in the previous gear.

Yes you will have some play . Yes the wheels will still turn in neutral so make damn sure you brake before putting it in park!!! try having just one wheel touching the ground and ,by hand, try to turn the other tire. should have a slight drag though the clutch paks.
