How strong are the stock diffentials on these trucks? I'm soon going to be around 480rwhp and 530rwtq. Will these rear ends (clutch packs, spider gears) be able to easily handle the power?
i have heard of some spyder gear probs on here. might want to check with the search button. i always wondered about the beer can drive shafts. never heard of any probs though
Several of us have gone to Stinkers rear end that DTS in Detroit designed for us.
Benefits: Bullet proof. Any ratio you want. Save about 100 lbs. Its a Locker. Can be fitted with Wilwood calipers and rotor to allow 15 inch rear wheels for ideal slicks. And hooks wonderfully.
None have broken so far.
Down sides: It is a locker! Bangs and clanks just like every locker ever has. Costs are significant...I think with all the options Stinker gets about $3800 for it. He has a thread on it somewhere...pm him.
But the bottom line...hooks, eliminates those fishtails when you come off the line or hit a gear a little hard. I moved from the 4:10 to a 4:56 when I had mine made...it has really done everything I wanted it to do.

Riceater and I both broke the rear end's in ourr trucks...all in one night.
I broke a tooth off the spider and sides... Rice detonated the entire rear end.
Since then we have installed a complete set of Cryo'd OEM gear set's, clutch pack...ect. I have thrown more at it since without incident...to include dropping the hammer at 4500 rpm with slicks on...still hanging strong.
I believe the reason we detonated is from peg leggin in the water box.
Line lock helps eliminate that problem.
I am at or around 566 to 600 hp.
I was looking for the detonated rear end pic's on the PC...can only find Chad's cryo'd pic...:dontknow:
