I put some shackles on today, now I just need some front coils to drop the front end a little and give it some stance. I prefer a little rake to the truck rather than level. Any news:questionmark: :deadhorse: :p

Man Tony, (IF, If was a 5th we'd all be drunk) But IF you'd have sent me a set of these They'd have been on in 20 mins! I've already removed my bump stops. Of course I'd need a flip kit, but for preliminary checks and performance of these springs I'd had a full report in 1 HOUR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But alas I'm off the Singapore again on Monday :(
 
Hey Stinker, I was wondering if you know what the stock spring rate is for the front coils on the quad cab pickups? I think earlier in this thread it was said that the new springs are going to be about 10% stiffer and give a drop of about 1.5 inches (perfect amount of drop for my application). The springs in the center of the picture in the first post of this thread look like they would be more than just 10% stiffer, which is actually OK by me because I prefer a stiffer, better handling ride. If the stock setup is 500 lbs./in. (just as a guess), then going up 10% gives 550 lbs./in. That doesn't seem like it would be that much stiffer. Any thoughts?:burnout:

havnt got it yet on the qc's, the springs I used are from the 06 qc's, not the 05, the 06 was a beefier spring therefore I went with them

the RC springs tho, was 750 spring rate, and with the custom ones they are 860 now
 
Thanks Stinker, I'm really lookin' forward to getting some of these springs. The increased spring rate and the lower ride height sounds perfect to me. I was thinking when I install the new springs that I might start looking at an aftermarket rear sway bar. I figure that the combination of the lower ride height and the stiffer spring rate would tighten the front end up and increase the truck's tendency to understeer. So I figure that if I add a rear sway bar I could increase the rear's tendency to oversteer, balancing out the front and increasing the overall handling of the truck. I know a quad cab pickup is never going to be hot lapping around a road course, but it still would be nice to make the truck handle even better than it already does on the street.;)

but i had a thought i wanted to share . If we put on the stinker springs as is it will be higher in the front by at least 1 inch (rear is a flip kit at the highest setting ) so what do you think ?
1.Cut 1/2 from the springs to match the rear flip kit (at highest setting)
2. Put springs as is and only lower back by shackles ?

As you probably guessed from my posts above I am planning on just using shackles on the back and then using Stinker's coils on the front. I don't want to screw with a flip kit in the back and I'd like to have a fair amount of suspension travel to maintain good suspension geometry in the front. If I were you, I would probably install them as is to see exactly how they will ride first. Then, if you want it lower take them out and cut half a coil at a time until you get where you want it to be. It's pretty hard to guess how much they will lower the vehicle just by looking at them next to the old springs. Remember it's a lot easier to cut more off the spring that it is to put a piece back on.;)
 
I'd cut 1/4 and see how you like it, then cut another 1/4 if needed.

But put them on first to see how much it sags

Oh, Stinker while I'm thinkin' about it, I understand that when we lower the front of these trucks the bump stop needs to be cut, removed, or replaced. What would you suggest for a new bump stop? Can you name a part number and supplier or is this something that you can supply for those that are swapping coils? Just curious...
 
they have been installed in a couple trucks now, but I am stillnot satisified,

I am very very sorry guys, but I dont want to do like others and say "here it is , buy it now"

I want it right, so i am going to do a truck near me myself, to where I can touch, measure, and feel it.

but I will still say, the 06 models have a problem with vibrations, now Blackviper figured out alot of stuff, and I will try to incorporate it, but I make no promises on no vibrations, I jsut cant, but I will do the best I can;)
 
As I recall Blackviper was having problems with a vibration at about 10-15 mph in the rear of the vehicle. Have you experienced any vibrations that feel like they are caused by lowering the front?
