In a house surrounded by palm trees
In honor of both my parents, Gigi, my neighbor Tom, my friend Steve and thousands of others I will be participating in my first "Relay for Life" tonight. My parents were involved with this event for many years after my mother survived her first bout with breast cancer back in 95. She always had such enthusiasm for this event and enjoyed it every year. I feel kinda lame that I never got involved.....well I am making up for lost time tonight. My mom would be proud of me.:)

So Walt, as I walk that track tonight, I will thinking of Gigi and saying a prayer for her and many others.........

....everybody take care of each other....... hug your kids, hug your wife, hug your parents......things can change so fast........this shit gets me so emotional.....

Did the event last night. It was very cool. Lots of people out there supporting the cause. The mood was not somber like I thought it might be. It was very uplifting. Saw many people I knew whom I have not seen in awhile and got to catch up with them. It was a very cool event and am very glad I participated.

Saw a former neighbor of mine whose wife died a couple of years ago of colon cancer. She was only 37. Was diagnosed right after giving birth to a daughter. She fought for almost 4 years......... Her daughter had drawn the white paper bag(memorial) a message to her mother "mommy I love you and miss you" with a picture of the two together from when they she was alive. I broke down right there......it was so moving. I saw the dad and said hello but did not mention the bag for fear that I would break down in front of him......That was the most difficult moment for me.......

When I found my parents bag......I wasnt near as upset.....they had lived a full life unlike my friends wife, hers was cut so short.

Here is a pic of my parents memorial. At 10 pm they light candles in all the bags and everybody does a lap holding candles......it was pretty awesome.

Awesome stuff Patrick!!

I participated in one of these in honor of my (at the time) MIL, a colon cancer survivor. Pretty emotional stuff!!

Good work!!!
