And driving was pleasurable. Filling up the gas tank was a mindless happening just like putting your car in neutral at the light. Man has it changed, and it sucks.

yeah... Now that I have a DD I try to take my son out on Saturday for about an hour and it does not hurt the wallet as bad... I love cruising...

It's gotten to the point where cruising on the bike all the time isn't even an option. Not when it costs almost $25 to fill a tank that might need to be filled 3 or 4 times on a good day. Forget about doing it in a 10 mpg truck.

I used to fill up my '56 Chevy at the World Gas Station at the corner of Alameda and Victory Blvd in Burbank for a total of about 3 bucks (Gas War Prices)......

But I preferred Super Shell 100+Octane (White pump)....

Heh, I think we will be the last generation to drive for "Fun". Just as a large number of smokers have been taxed to quit, the "cruisers" were the bane to environmentalists. We are going the same way, and only the perverse in society will drive gas guzzlers soon.

For me it was the White Pump Chevron for my L-88 Chevelle. Parents just could not understand how I could pay 35 cents a gallon for gas.:dontknow:
