Removing Cats or Not

Call Boomer...see what he says...or call Sean Roe. See what they say. I think that cats and forced injection is a mistake.

there is a ton of guys a TON, :D that are not running cats, and just before inspection they install a set of hi flos, but there are many many guys also have taken the stock mids, removed both the insides of both or all four cats and still pass inspection

the cats are more for visual, if your truck is tuned correctly you want have any problems

so leave the cats in place and just have them gutted out......

I cant condone anything fred you understand;) but you can take the stock mids, cut apart the cats and remove the insides and reweld them back together.

Now I know some have jsut gutted the front convertors I think it was, because the other convertor is almost like a hi flow. the other is a tightly wound, restrictive aluminum.

If you have the ol sniffer test I would jsut gut one set and leave the hi flo set alone, I think jack knows which one it is that is restrictive, its been so long since I did mine, its hard to remember , but I think the front ones were restrictive and the rear not?
might pm him to be sure jsut in case
 
Its Alright Me And Fred Have the Hook Up now in San Jose:rock: So we Can sleep at night not have to worry about passing smog. I don't even care now:)

I suggest All 3 of us ( Sleeper, Fred, And me) Go down to Ted In San Jose and clear this matter out. And I'm sure he will give us a Better deal too:rock:
 
I'd be careful about removing the cats since you live in Cali like myself. I think there are fines when you remove, alter them in any way. Just remove the insides of all four by cutting them open on top (the area where they face the bottom of the truck), remove the guts, weld them back and re-install.

i just got off the phone with a guy i know at the D M V here in calif. ...he says VEHICLE CODE 27156b says the officer can inpound the vehicle on the spot and you don't get it back.....also jail time...also very big fines for altering or dicoucting or tampering with smog divices........he says its up to the officer what he does in fines, jail,taking your truck, .ect..............
 
Your chances Of getting pulled over and the officer Inspecting your car and looking underneath are very less.
 
With a visual inspection you can't tell the cats are gutted but by the sound and how well it does with the smog inspection you can. Be careful Annu,
