Hi folks

I finally got the factory Tonneau, it's at the warehouse, I'm not sure if all the hardware is in the crate. just to avoid driving 100 miles for nothing.... what should come along? I mean how the Tonneau mounts to the bed? I had some experience with aftermarket ones, with the bed rails, but this is different...

do you have any pics?

thanks

mine is hinged at the front with aluminium profiles who clamp in eachother... the gasschocks are mounted pointing above and backwords....one day closing the b*tch :D , the hinge got loose and cover almost near the truck...:(

so from a certain lifting height now i see the schocks pull out the hinge...

must still look at it but need, i think , to reverse the schocks so they lift it up and push it towards the cabin... instead of backwords...

but seeing the reinforcement on the cover for the schocks mounting it was that way designed

I bought one too missing several hardware components. all are listed in the service manuals at a dodge dealer ship and can be ordered. The only item that was not listed is the strikers that the top connects too. the tailgate strikers are the exact same ones that will work. You will need the front hinge mechanism that is bolted and rivited into the front of the bed. there is also some hardware (right and left) brakets that the latching mechanism connects to on the bed rails.

ok so you bought a OEM cover? did you buy this second hand? if so there is some installing involved if your truck never had the OEM cover on it. you will need to drill into the front of the bed to install the hinges. there is also some mounting brackets on the back you will need to install. you should also have the wing latches and seal all on the cover.

good luck
i did not think there were as many pieces as there where when i bought mine.

I think many items will miss, I just checked and I will have to drill and fabricate some mounts on the front of the bed.

I will go there and load the crate on my truck, bring it home and do a proper job, then bring it to a body shop and have it painted.

will let you know

Barry, I had your tonneau cover, it's simple to install, but... that thing is crap! I sold it :) plus it was black :)

thanks!

o well.., just think to reinforce the hinge .. or replace it by better system...for the rest i think they all are about the same ? :dontknow: either the flat ones or the raised ones... :dontknow: My paint matches so i don't think i can do better ....:dontknow: but i'm dreaming of fabricating a real wing ! :D

I know, it's crap, I had to poop because of it some years ago, but I can't drink coffee and it helps, especially when I'm behind the wheel!

Check your box for predrilled and threaded holes for mounts for factory cover brackets. I'm guessing '04's didn't have them as covers never became avail. 'til '05 and only some QC's got them, besides the CE's, but there is atleast one '05 RC that had them and that is mine. I assume there are many if not all '05's w/them.

I Got a factory '05 qc tonneau from a scrap yard w/the stock brackets and struts incld., but no bolts (knew this before I picked up). I got a parts list from dealer and got the correct bolts at the hardware store and cover mounted/bolted right up. Should be 1 threaded insert on each side of box front and I can't remember what was on rear sides, but something was there.

I checked: no threaded bolts in the front of the box, I'm gonna drill and install a backplate.

could someone please take a pic of the back side of the mounting bracket? I mean out of the box between the cab and the box I believe there's a backplate there

thanks

attila, you maybe in luck,i have another cover off the truck right now i will try to get the wife to photo them

try these, these are the brackets removed from the bottom/front side of the cover and the plates on the front of the bed that they bolt too.hopr they help

Dusty, a big thanks! I only miss the back L plates, I was going to fabricate them, but probably having the right ones will help.

I arranged to get back home, but the installation will need some adjustments, anyway it's not so bad.

thanks for helping, appreciate that!
