Removing valve covers and intake

I'm getting ready to pull my valve covers and intake off, however I'm a little worried about doing the job myself. Is there anything I need to be aware of? Or should I be able to just unscrew, unbolt, disconnect and remove?

Nope, just keep the assemblies covered so no foreign matter gets in there.
Stinker can do it with his teeth.

The valve cover gaskets are rubber and re-useable.

Removal is fairly straight forward. Keep track of the bolt locations, as some have variable lengths and on the valve covers some are used for the plug wire looms.

Its just hard to reach the rear bolts, I can reach them but most will need to sit in the engine bay.

I concur. I have mine off right now if you need a picture.

The ones to worry about (replace) are the head and header gaskets. Timing gasket is a flip of the coin, I always replace it. T-stat can be reused, but I usually replace it, I think it is around 10 bucks.

Patrick can keep you straight on the gaskets if you ever have a question. He won't try to sell you something you don't need.

Also, I heard some dodge dealers will sell you the wrong Head gasket. We want the 45000 part number, black gasket, not green gasket.

Maybe throw some of this gasket info in the DIY section?

I got it off ebay for $800 thought it was a good deal, with most going for $1200+ It's polished and chromed. Justin is setting me up with some powder & clear coated black valve covers. Just a little bling for the engine bay...Can't wait for Boomer to get that Throttle body done

Come on now, I know that to remove a flat head screw you need a pipe wrench. By the way, can I just remove the valve covers with a cutting torch?

Sorry Azmal,, There was one on ebay last week that went for $950. The dealer called today and said gaskets are in. So, I will take pics of the install :burnout:
