So I was thinking about ways to bump up my horsepower but there isnt a tuner anywhere close to me. So then I started to think about power to weight ratio and what I could remove from the truck for all types of racing. Less weight is always good and would compliment the current power levels and make them more efficient.

I'm thinkin' about taking off the tailgate, rear tire, passenger seat and weighing them seperately/together to see how much the savings would be. I'm sure theres a few more things but those are the biggest three.

Perhaps someone has already done this...if so please post a link and save me from reinventing the wheel.

I know the rear spare weighs 75lbs....I havent weighed any other pieces....

Would guess it would be around a 200lbs weight savings...not bad really.

If anyone got really serious, it would be good to see the loss by replacing all of the body panels with fiberglass or carbon fiber for those folks who never need to balance their checkbooks ;)

Lighter rims...perhaps moving to a 18" or 20" rim and find some good track tires...

Stock stereo sucks, probably get 25lbs right there :D

Isn't trying to take weight off our trucks kinda like ordering the double cheesburger meal, mega-sized, and getting it with a "diet coke" :D

Best guess, 200+lbs....I bet Patrick has the actual stats, he and/or Jack has probably already tried.....

Screw worrying about weight. Work on weight transfer and traction.

Oh, by the way, screw Caltracs also. They are not enough. If you are really serious, go with a ladder bar or four link system.

You will get enough weight transfer that the stock tires will stick beyond what you can believe.

Instead of shedding some of the weight, look into 'relocating' some of it....

Removing a few hundred pounds would definately help you at the track and give you a good sotp feel. I would love to figure out how to pull 5-600lbs out of it. How big is the front bumper support?
