Repairing Scratched Wheels

:argh: I had my new tires installed today and the #%#@% shop couldnt seem to mount new tires without leaving a nice little scratch on ALL my wheels:argh: . Its small and almost blend with the polished aluminum but i want to fix them, anybody know of any good ways to fix them? Thanks,

depends on how deep...

you can sand the clear, work the aluminum...sand it again....work your way up to the 1000 grit on the aluminun...then polish...then reclear...

Their not very deep, would you use a buffer or some kind of high speed polisher?

That would piss me right off.

I got those Factory Repro Chrome wheels fitted last week.

The tyre shop put their youngest guy on the job so I threatened him with death.

He took half and hour over each wheel and they were just fine.

Really annoying when people don't take the time though.


Do you guys have T-Cut over there?
It's like a really mild cutting compound that might just do the job.

These guys were jacka#%s anyway, i got my discount out of them. I can barely feel distortion when i run my fingernail over the scratches. The permastar looks nice but i dont want my wheels chrome, i like the factory polished look.

sounds like its only in the clearcoat....any competant rim shop can fix that pretty cheap should be....little bit of clear and cut and buff and your good ... sounds like it anyways...

Sounds like an easy fix though some knowledge is required. If you haven't ever buffed paint or made these types of repairs take it to a local body shop or most detail shops can easily and cheaply fix this. At the very least you'll know what you are looking at cost wise before you take the tire shop to small claims court :rock:

A reputable shop should be paying to have fixed or replaced, did you talk to a manager about it? I had a tires plus do that to a couple AR wheels for my car and they replaced w/o much hassle and took off mount/balance charge for them as well as not charging for the mount/bal on the new ones.

Mothers wax make a polish for chrome and polished wheels use it with the ball you will be surprised, works like a charm

These guys at this shop are being as#&*%'s. They are crooks in every way, thats why my brothers lawyer will be calling them today , its just the point now, if they were curtious and respectful there wouldnt be a problem, but now its gonna cost them much more:rock:

i had dawns tires rotated and balanced the other day and made sure they understood if they scratched one they would be buying it. bastage rode worse than before i took it up there so its back up there this morning so they can fix it. might have slung a weight off. anyway i always make sure they are aware if they screw it up they will be replacing it.
