The previous owner tinted the tail lights on my truck using VHT, but he did a poor job so there are some wavy spots in the tint. Can I use the same procedure for tinting to repair the coat on the tail lights or would I be better off buying new lights and starting over? The procedure I use is:

1: Wetsand with 2000 grit
2: Clean off lights
3: Tint with 2 coats VHT
4: Clean again
5: Spray 3 coats clear, wetsanded after first 2 coats
6: Buff with polishing compound

Thanks in advance.

Awesome thanks man. I need to get home from deployment, I keep thinking of stuff like this and either spending money or researching myself to death on it. I have already spent close to 5k on my truck since Ive been gone. My wife told me the family room is full of boxes between my truck and my race bike parts haha.

That is definitely the case, my wife always says I love my truck more than her.

Search for my thread. I did it about a year ago. Posted pics.

Found, thank you. I saved that one for when I get home, hopefully I'll get them looking good again.

I will definitely do that, I've got a ton of stuff to put on so any help would be much appreciated. I should be home in 2 weeks, countin down the days.

I tinted my tail lights with VHT NIGHT shades and got pulled over for it..
So I had to remove it.. Just use a rag, gasoline and some elbow grease
The night shades came right in a about 15 minutes for both tails and the 3rd
Brake light.

Check out YouTube..

I posted this when I was deployed so I didn't have access to my truck, just asked off memory. Now that I am home, I looked at my tail lights and can't find any problems on them. Thanks for all the tips. Now I need to get my 3rd brake light tinted to match the tails.
