I replaced the Ram's head on the hood of my '04 RC this evening....
I'ts pretty easy, but those who (like me) are hinky about shit they've never done before, here's a brief description of the job.
The Ram on the hood is essentially 2 pieces. The chrome Ram and surrounding shield is one part..... This will probably not come out in one piece but that's ok... Dont worry about it....
What you see behind it is a seperate insert piece...mine's black...
Both pieces are plastic and both of them come out.....There's no fastener, just adhesive... so don't worry about looking for a bolt under the backside of the hood...there is none..
Use a hair dryer to heat up the adhesive and gently pry the ram out from the bottom.... I imagine you could use your fingernails but we used a plastic razor blade from Pep Boys..... It worked bitchen.
Once you have that out, you're left the plastic insert shaped like a shield. It has 3 depressions and a hole in it..... Heat that with the hairdryer until it's nice hot and again, use the plastic razor blade to get under the bottom tip of the shield ...(the pointy part).... once you break the glue seal, yer home free....
(By the way, for you sneaky bastages who'll try to put a wood screw in the hole and simply yank it out..... that shit won't fly...The plastic is too weak and it just cracks when you apply pressure....Nice try, tho....
Next you'll need to remove all the white adhesive from inside the hole. ...lighter fluid works great..... Once its down to the paint, peel off the protective strip and schmook it in the hole.....
One pik is of the old badge pieces.....
Good luck........
The only thing these badges could really use is a nice coat of clear lacquer... Reason is that the chrome portion is a sticky backed foil onlay...Without protection the pointed edges will start to peel eventually.....
Thanks to Justin for his phone help.....
