trying a high speed run tonight and it would not let me go into fifth.. keep trying for reverse? is something out of alignment perhaps? does not do it at low speed.
Hey Scoob, You should indeed have a lockout solonoid as all Vettes,TAs, and Camaros. do since 5th and reverse are next to one another. You should not be able to hit the reverse gate period with the solonoid properly working! One of a few things is going on. First could be the clutch swapped or tranny work and the solonoid was never plugged back in. Usually make it hard to get into reverse! Second the solonoid itself went bad. Again, should be hard get into the reverse gate. Not impossible but harder than usual. Third would be the installation of an aftermarket shifter and it not be aligned correctly if that's possible on a 10. Most T-56 and T-6060 can be aligned. Usually put it in neutral and loosen the four mounting bolts, center the shifter and retighten. Hope this helps man. The solonoid should look like a cylindrical canister looking sensor usually on the top side of tranny. Electrical connector usually runs perpindicular to the tranny coming toward the driver side of tranny. Remember this is not on a T-56 10, rather GM and Ford. Should be similar though since Tremec makes them all.
It is supposed to lock you out at anything above 3 MPH, is your speedo hooked up? Try above 15 mph to go into the reverse gate. If you succeed it WILL NOT GO INTO REVERSE!! It will grind a lil as the syncros will not let it mesh. If you can do this the reverse lockout solonoid is bad or wiring related to it. ( 2-3 wires) I think 2.
