I just picked this up off of Ebay ($32.00) and it looks like it's going to work great. It's called the Rostra Obstacle Sensing System. Works with two microwave sensors. It looks like the sensors will mount behind the bumper and shoot through the lower plastic area. It won't work through the steel area but can be positioned where they will work but remain invisible. No cutting holes in the bumper.

It has a beeper speaker that will mount in cab in the general vicinity of the dome lamp and a three light display (green, yellow, red) that will mount to the top window trim above the slider so that it can be seen in the rear view mirror while backing. Should turn out looking pretty stock. I'll update as installation progresses over the next few weeks.

LOLOl I gotta say it Big Dave:D

Damnnit boy!! just done back over stuff:p
Always enlightening words of wisdom from you Stink man. Thank you.
I haven't hit anything yet but want to insure that the back bumper doesn't get modified.
I was just doing some ebay surfing and found this system cheap and said "why not". If it doesn't work, no great loss. But I think this is gonna work pretty well. Everything will be hidden but I'll still have the rear protected. I like having my rear protected thank you very much.:D

that's exactly what I have been looking for, please update, I live in a town with limited (at best) parking and I am constantly worried about scubbing the bumper and haven't found anything yet with out drilling the bumper, which will not happen.

Here is the Rostra website where the system is manufactured. Their info only brushed over the highlites.

Here is another system for sale on ebay. I think it is better suited for our trucks since it has the extention wire included to reach the cab.

For $35 bucks, how can you go wrong. It is microwave technology so it sees through the plastic bumper. I don't think the ultrasonic or infrared units do that.

Looks cool.
I'd love to see pics of the install.

Also, do you have to use the speaker?

hey, since they don't ship Internationally, is someone willing to forward me one of these, $21 is a big deal! I could pay it and have it shipped then pay for the forwarding or you just buy and I pay you.

thanks in advance!

The speaker is an integral part of the system but is adjustable. Don't know if it can be made completely silent or not. Haven't read the instructions. I never read the instructions until I'm all done but still have extra parts left over. Then I try to figure out where they were suppose to go.:D

Atilla If you want one, buy it and have them ship it to me. I'll PM you my address. When I receive it, I'll forward it to you.

Just to let everyone know. I have not installed it yet but see absolutely no reason why it will not work. Once my back is better, I'll do a DIY on the install and the performance of the system.

Looks great, we have that on the Denali, integrated with the camera it is a nice feature.

It works. Went out this afternoon and did a trial install. I still need to lengthen the wire going to the cab so the beeper/light display will reach. Works pretty darn good. Here are some pics of the install so far. These are the two microwave modules mounted so that they see through the lower plastic part of our bumpers.

This is what it looks like from behind the truck. Invisible:rock:

The beeper module is small enough to fit above the headliner near the dome lamp and the small green/yellow/red light display will attach to the upper slider window frame so it can be seen in the rear view while backing.

Looks Great, I bought the one off ebay, can't wait to try it out
Like me, you'll have to lengthen the wires (2) going to the beeper module. No big deal, just splice in a pair long enough for you to mount the module and lights where you want them. Rosta makes an extention kit but it's really not needed plus I don't know where you'd find one. You might be able find their number in the manual and call them but I'm going the cheap and easy route.

Thank you, I'll let you know! :D :D

I installed the drill through the rear bumper and they work well, because you get 4 bumper units and you need this many to protect the total rear when backing.....the backing cameras are shaky at times and I don't think a lot of the so-called "wireless" cameras are more trouble than what their worth....I like my backing sensors.....You can mount a set on the front bumper with a toggle switch and it will warn you when you get too close to a parking block as well....my $.02
