Roe SC and Nitrous

What have you done to the tranny? What was the cost and what nitous kit did you have or recommend?

My tranny has every single upgrade available...Billet input, intermediate and output shafts; custom billet torque converter; servos; increase clutch count; etc...

NX nitrous kit...My initial install was done by X-Metal engineering...:burnout:

There are only 2 companys that flash PCM's DC Performance, and BG.
DC has an in house tuner that is very good, Chris Jensen. DC is also a vendor here on the Forum and is very well respected.
The rest have theirs done at one of these 2 places.

You need to have a shift kit installed in your QC transmission just to keep it alive at the HP level you are at right now. Trans-Go makes one I believe.

If you want to run in the 11's and make it live you will need to spend quite a bit of money.

yep....figure 5 grand minimum for a trans build plus the cost of a trq converter...I ran a 12 flat on streets and just boost at 1300' so you can get 11's....with enough mods....

Call Joe at Westminster trans 714-898-0089....his parts and trq converter rock....IMO I would skip Suncoast

Thanks for the info. Do they ship you a trans built to your specs and you ship them back your core or do you have to pull the tranny and send it to them? I'm in Florida and it seems they are out of California based on the area code.

call him...perhaps he can sell you the correct bits and pieces and recommend a builder....:dontknow: ....but I can tell you he knows these transmissions...

Joe is a nice guy at westminster. The only advantage to suncoast is location. If you aren't crazy about doing your own install, it might be worth it to go to them. You might get something for your core with them. I see nothing wrong with suncoast and I've had a transmission by them. I've also got one from Joe. The only people I would say to stay away from are the retards at ATS diesel.

Please be careful....I went thru a charge back dispute a couple months ago with a tranny company:mad: . I know it's hard to swallow the price..:( ...for a fully built tranny from Joe or Suncoast but you are paying for the best bar none. They stand behind there product as such...

11's with the Roe:

$5-7k Transmission
$3-5k Traction

The bottom line is as Patrick, Mike, Mike, Jack and others have said:

With the Roe supercharger, in my opinion, you must put at least as much into the traction issue as the blower if you want to go really fast. I do think that when you address your transmission, and traction issues you will not need NOS to be in the high 11's.

With excellent driving skills and ideal weather you might get to the mid 11's, but if you work hard and spend your dollars wisely you will be rewarded.

bone and a few others have had problems with suncoast, i just have the one you got beefed up and change torque converter. thats my plan anyways.

Suncoast is an excellent company, great work ethic and has some super knowledgable workers. Yes, my tranny went out on the dyno in April. It was a Friday afternoon, I gave them a call and talked to Ron around 730pm. He was very receptive even for a Friday night, remembered my build, told me to send it back and that they would cover it under warranty. So far they have been good to their word and even picked up the shipping, and labor to pull it (not in the warranty).

I am not happy the tranny went after 2K of granny driving with it, breaking in the engine build and Roe. Nevertheless, I say give them the chance to fix the situation. It was a world of difference the day of the install and consider it my best mod with the torque converter.

Anyone is welcome to inquire on the status of my transmission. I can't call them right now and Taliban Dan is out of town who has been coordinating for me. My wife won't get involved, plus it will cost me more if she does! :D I already owe her a boob job and tummy tuck in Oct. Yes, I will try to take and post pics.

The Suncoast employee Ron has been working my issue. - sent transmission back to me on the 1st of June (in email contact with Ron Wolverton now)
1-800-868-0053

I've also been trying to take my Hemi down to them for an improved tranny and torque converter - they are expanding their line of products and seem to take pride in working custom jobs.

Back to the main point of the thread - I am being careful with the NOS ontop of the SC. Starting with only one solenoid and a 50 shot. Dan feels it will be a synergistic effect with the SC and NOS combined. Like others have said, it's all in the tune. If there is no detonation, it should be safe, however tuning (my humble experience) with NOS has been more difficult due to the status of the bottle, temp/pressure is always changing and no two days is the tune the same. I believe I remember Boomer or someone else stating that the Detonation is 400% more pressure than the normal SC boost. So it is the detonation which will cripple your engine, not a good tune with SC/NOS - just risky to tune and keep it stable. If my internals weren't upgraded I wouldn't try it.

You could safely go to a 150 shot if you had the internal mods. If you're worried about beating your truck up on the track, spray it to half track. You'll be surprised how little of an effect nitrous has past halfway. Yes it DOES have an affect, but it is minimal vs hitting it in the first part of the track. You want to shoot as much as your tires can stand as soon as possible. If you have a set of slicks, I'd nail it out of the hole. This thing is a 6k/lb tank, the faster you get it moving, the better off you are. The key to your fast time is going to be in the 60'. If you can't 60', you aren't going to go fast, that simple.

I'd LOVE to see someone shoot N20, roughly a 100-150 shot to half track and then do a full pass to see the difference. A lot of top dragster guys only run it to the 900-1000' mark on a 1/4 mile pass as it's only good for .04-.05 of a second. That's in something that weighs 2.5 less than you and making similar power.

Bone do you have upgraded rods? Didn't see it in your sig.
Yes, in sig.
For those who haven't - One the cheapest, simple and effective mods there are (once then heads are pulled). 7.65inch rods

Good news - email back from Suncoast:
Direct clutches were burnt, we did some mods to that drum and also moved the vent to the tail housing. Should have fixed the problem. Thanks Ron
Back to the dyno when I get home!

Suncoast has been great to me. Had a leak from the front and some shifting issues, they sent me a brand new tranny with some improvements since my earlier one (it was about 8 months old). I've had some bad experiences with other tranny builders so this kind of service is rare IMO

I am considering selling my full billet Suncoast, brand new never bolted into the truck. Cost me around $7000. Seriously considering a turbo 400 and gear vendors. Still researching some things but if you are interested let me know, I'll post it in the for sale section if I decide to do this.

If I had three days at Suncoast, I was going to put in the Gear Vendors under/over drive. Just didn't have the time to cut and wait for a new driveshaft.

Yeah if I keep the 48re I'll prob still add a gear vendors on it. Since I went with 4.88's for my new rearend I'll really need something taller as a top gear if I even think I'm going to drive it on the interstate.
