I know we have probably hashed this out at least a dozen times but I changed my Trans fluid to Royal Purple ATF at 36000 miles, it is now officially out of warranty so I thought what the hell if it breaks all the pieces belong to me now. So far I am really pleased with the difference, it makes no more noise that the stock mud which came out and it does shift much better especially when the trans is cold, you can actually put it in reverse without thinking your going to bend the friggin shifter. I am still not very pleased with my Gen X shifter but I know I need to talk to Boomer about that before I put my B&M back in. The trans feels very notchy going in to each gear like it has to center the shifter before going into gear, am I the only person having this problem? I am still on the original clutch but it feels very strong at this point.:dontknow:

Oh yeah, it is full synthetic ATF

I use Royal Purple for my motor oil (which I need to change soon) and I used it for my rear end gear oil (changed at 34,000 miles). I haven't had any problems so far.. Make sure to use a Mopar oil filter when changing your motor oil to save you from hearing a whining noise at start up.

Why ATF instead of "Max Gear 75/90w"?

Tremec recommends it for use in these transmissions. Chrysler does not.
Tremec built the fugger they should know best.

Good to know.

Have you noticed any color change?

Yeah, Purple....
:D NICE :D

The reason I ask is, I've seen "R/P" some out of one of our V10s and it was BLACK. That was the first time I had witnessed any color change from "R/P". Also, there was less than 500 miles on that change. Weired.

Wish I was, I ran it in diesels for years and it never changed color. Haven't switch mine yet, Still under warranty.
But it definately made me wonder.

I don't remember who it was, but someone else was talking about "notchy shifting" after they changed shifters. My problem was the synchros.

I am running the RP Synchromax with Synerlec (Proprietary synthetic additive) in mine...have been for about a year.
Much smoother shift's, and certainly not notchy or hard to rip through the gears...:dontknow:

You are probably using an aftermarket clutch, could my stock clutch be the cause of some of my problems, it still feels strong?

Did you do the shifter and the fluid swap all at once?
With 36K on a stock set-up...it certainly could be your clutch...
But I would be inclined to take a look at the most recent change that you just did ...and noticed the difference:dontknow:
The fluid swap may have made "more apparent" an impending problem with the tranny (clutch)... could be the shifter location in relationship to the console... you did re-locate tha plastic bushing where the shifter married up in the tranny when you re-assembled it?

Ok, now somebody tell me why the bitch wont shift right. Help

Wait till you change it the second time (the first time will remove all the sludge from the gear oil) it will feel even better!!!

Did you center Boomers shifter after you installed it?? If not, put it in nuetral, loosen the mounting bolts, it will center itself, then re-tighten!!

I have the Gen IV and have no problems other than a little noise in 6th.
